The Club 18 ably supported by the volunteer 88rvices of it8 members and 0th8r8.
5. Fundralslng and Communlty S•rviM actlvltles
The year 2022 - 2023 wa8 one of continued post-pand8mic renew81 with a number of significant events
restored to the Wnslow calendar and the first highly successful running of the North Bucks bike ride in July.
Imth g8nerou$ spon80rship, particularly frcm Dream8, our main 8pon80r, the event raised in the region of
£8,000 for charity.
2022 8aw the return of Winslow Show where our club supported the show and ran the usual well 8ubscribed
8e8r Tent to contribute to our fundraising. Th8 flreworks display in Novemb8r was very well received and
feedback showed that this is viewed as a key communty event in Wnslow. February saw the highly
8u¢Gessful 1 OK run and we are grateful to FurLe Down school for allowlng u8 the use of the Bchool which wo
had al80 U8ed for the blke ride.
March 2023 Saw the long-awaited return of our Winslow Beer Fe8tival. The venue that we u8ed pre-covid was
not available and the running of the event was In doubt. We owe enomous gratitude to Philip Menday who
allowed us the u8e of the Bèll Hotel free of charge to run our Festival. De8Plte the reduced 81ze of the event,
was still highly profilable and a big contributor to our charity fund. The King'8 Coronation in May wa8
celebrated with several community ev8nts supported by our club.
Lion President said that he would like the club to support a Breast Cancer charity as this has impacted him
and many of our members. He was delighted that the club was able to contribute £5,000 to the Lasting Life
charity and this has been used to support impacted families and has provided 2 new chemotherapy couches at
the Mount Vernon breast cancer centre.
As wèll as focussing on fundraising and communty ev8nt8, it18 right to reflect the wide range of social activity
during the year which keep8 th8 club vibrant and thriving. Trlp$ to Quainton Windmill and Milton Keynes
Museum, the memorable Jame8 Bond themed progressive 8upper, the changeover garden party, and many
more. We also t¢x)k part in th8 Lions quiz heats that we won, only to be thwarted in the final as we achi8v8d
our now tradrtional seGond plaGe.
This was also a historic year as we voted to open membership of our club to people of all genders. We have
welcomed our first female member and I hope we will see many more joining us to further strengthen our club
so we can contribute even more to charity and the communily in future.
In summary, a highly suc￿sSful and hi$toriG year for our club and everyone is thanked for their support during
my presidency and more particularly. for the magnfficent sum of over £24,500 that we were able to contribute
to charity.
