Tring Lions Club was originally formed in 1972 and became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in December 2018. Throughout this accounting period the Club has had a membership of 14 individuals. Tring Lions Club CIO carried out a number of fundraising activities to raise funds from the public. In conjunction with several other Lions Clubs in the area, we operated a second-hand Bookshop in the Marlowe’s shopping centre in Hemel Hempstead. During this accounting year this was once again the main source of income. Income from the Bookshop was £11181 for this accounting period, in comparison with £8985 for the previous year, but this is accounted for by the fact that in the previous accounting period, COVID restrictions were still in place for part of theyear. |
| Our fundraising events included a stall at Tring Summer Festival in August 2022 which raised £178, a stall at Long Marston Fete which raised £77, refreshments at an ‘Open Garden’ event which raised £230. We also ran a Car Boot Sale in September 2022 which raised £144, we had a stall at Tring Winter Festival which raised £273, and a stall at Aldbury May Fair which raised £497. We held a Chocolate Father Christmas Raffle at Christmas and Chocolate Easter Bunny raffles as before which raised funds from the public of £664 in total for this accounting period. We held One online Quiz during the year which invited Donations from those participating. Out of this the Club donated £250 to the Chiltern MS Centre. We also continued to sell some donated records and other donated items online through e-Bay. This brought in funds of £348 during this accounting period. We held our Annual Carol Concert in the Forge Car Park, Tring raising £1513 for good causes. £1000 of the proceeds from this event was donated to the PACE Centre, Aylesbury with the remainder of the funds going to 1stTring Scouts / Cubs in January 2022. During the accounting period we made a total of 30 separate donations to local, national and international charities and local good causes of varying amounts ranging from £32 to one that was of a value of £3000. One of our members organised a dinner for invited guests at which £700 (including Gift Aid) was raised to help the people of Ukraine. We also collected 4353 Spectacles and 35 Hearing Aids from the public for sending out to Africa. Club members also participated in a Litter Pick in Tring Town Centre in May. |
