Some of the<br>services and activities undertaken by the<br>club and its members are outlined below**.**<br>**Advancement of Citizenship:**The club and<br>its members strive to form as many links as<br>possible with local Town Councils, voluntary,<br>community and faith groups in our<br>geographical area. This includes working<br>with local Town Councils to organise annual<br>Fun Runs.<br>**Promotion of Volunteering:**All our club<br>members are volunteers and make<br>donations to Lions Clubs International to<br>cover the club’s administration costs and<br>charges for centrally provided services to<br>help us carry out our activities. (e.g., to cover<br>insurance, training and legal advice etc). It is<br>a theme of Lions and of our club that every<br>penny we raise from the public at large<br>should be used to help support our service<br>activities. Promoting volunteering is essential|





|||to our wellbeing and to achieve the<br>maximum public benefit. We encourage<br>others to volunteer with us so that we can<br>achieve more. Examples are those that help<br>us organise Fun Runs, marshal the runs and<br>man the water stations and finish areas.<br>**Relief of Poverty/those in**<br>**need/humanitarian aid and disaster relief:**<br>We make donations to our International<br>Foundation which responds rapidly to<br>environmental crisis e.g., earthquakes,<br>floods, all over the world. We donate to<br>several local specialist charities to help them<br>provide help to those in need. We collect<br>donated food from a local supermarket and<br>deliver it to a local food bank.<br>**The advancement of health:**We distribute<br>messages in a bottle (MIAB) free of charge<br>to elderly and infirm people, so their health<br>condition and medication is readily available<br>to the emergency services when called to<br>assist.We have two collection points for<br>spectacles which we then recycle.<br>**Promoting the Conservation Protection**<br>**and improvement of the Physical and**<br>**Natural Environment:**<br>Not applicable.<br>**Promoting participation in healthy**<br>**recreation:**We organise and manage two<br>annual Fun Runs our area. Funds raised<br>from this event are used, when possible, to<br>help promote healthy recreation activity in<br>local community e.g. supporting junior<br>football teams.|

## **Achievements and Performance**

In August we<br>organised Ingleby Barwick Fun Run this year<br>there were 300 entrants.<br>In December we organise tin collections in<br>local supermarkets. The money raised was<br>used to issue 110 food vouchers for local<br>supermarkets to people in need. We also<br>made several donations to local charities<br>and food banks.<br>A local supermarket has a collection box for<br>groceries at the check outs, we collect these<br>donations and deliver them to a local food<br>bank. At Christmas we also used some of<br>the money raised from tin collections to<br>purchase Christmas puddings and stollens<br>for the food bank.<br>We made grants to many local charities and<br>local community groups. This includes three<br>local hospices. Also, Lions youth appeal<br>We collected and recycled over 2000 pairs<br>of spectacles.<br>Using money raise from tin collections and<br>fun runs we made grants to help individuals,<br>local groups and charities. We helped a<br>young lad to travel to World Kettlebell<br>Championships where he won his age<br>group. We supplied a local scout group with<br>new tents. We helped a group to buy books<br>so they could hold a book treasure hunt for<br>children.<br>We collected £1263 from a tin collection in a<br>local shopping complex for Children in Need<br>the BBC annual fund raising event.|
