Chairmans report for the period ended 31st March 2023

The objects of the Charity

The Charity acts for the public benefit to promote

1) the education (including social and physical training)

of the children in Kisii, Kenya in such ways as the charity trustees think fit, including by awarding to such children scholarships, maintenance allowances or grants tenable at any university, college or institution of higher or furher education.

2) the relief of sicknesss and the preservation of good health of people in Kisii, Kenya through the payment of hospital fees

Principal activities

I am reporting this year for the period from 1st April 2022 to 31st March 2023

The charity has maintained an attractive website which is linked to a paypal account to accept donations. The trustees have held regular meetings throughout the year and with covid restrictions finally lifted it was possible to run a street collection and a raffle and fundraising quiz

The charity continued to raise funds through donations to the web site and directly to the bank. The charity was able to transfer money to support the children's education throughout the year

Financial report

Income

The Charity received donations of £2639 Fundraising: The total for the year was £1048 The Exeter street collection took £137.94

The collection at Rose's church in Exeter and £372

The street draw in Moretonhanpstead took £53.50 The quiz and raffle took £485 on the night.

Expenses

Costs for education were £1621

The bank charges were fees for the currency transfer £15 per transaction and £1.38 paypal fees. Other expenditure was the annual fee for the website and a small charge for work on the computer Thus the income for the year was greater than the costs so the reserves were increased by £1641 to £2236 at 31st March 2023.

Thanks must go to the trustees for their input during the year particularly to Rose for her huge efforts and enthusiasm. Joram for his monitoring and support on the ground in Kenya Cameron for his magnificent quiz
