## **Objectives and Activities**

SORP reference<br>Summary of the purposes Para 1.17 To enhance the development and<br>of the charity as set out  education of all children, primarily<br>in its governing  under school age, and their families. By<br>document encouraging parents to understand and<br>provide for the needs of their family<br>through community groups, ensuring<br>that such groups offer opportunities for<br>all children and families regardless of<br>their race, culture, religion, means and<br>abilities. Encouraging the study of the<br>needs of such children and their<br>families, by promoting public interest<br>and recognition of such needs in the<br>local area of Aireborough.<br>Summary of the main  Para 1.17 and  The year started with the continuing<br>1.19<br>activities in relation to  pandemic which put paid to some of<br>those purposes for the  our plans and agreed projects for the<br>public benefit, in  Children’s Centre.  We have held 9<br>particular, the activities,<br>meetings in total this year with no<br>projects or services<br>meetings held in February and<br>identified in the<br>September.  We continued to hold our<br>accounts.<br>meetings, using Zoom, up to and<br>including the July 2021 meeting.<br>A £4,000 grant was received from<br>Comic Relief.  Our Comic Relief Grant<br>was underway before the start of the<br>year and was delivered by a Mental<br>Health Counsellor, who was well known<br>to the Children’s Centre.  Reports from<br>the Counsellor were very positive and<br>it was agreed that the project was a<br>success.  A laptop computer was<br>purchased to assist with the delivery of<br>this project.  An end of grant report<br>was submitted in April 2021, but the<br>counselling sessions continued with the<br>**----- End of picture text -----**<br>

aim of completing before the end of<br>this year.<br>We were also successful in obtaining<br>funding from the Seedlings Foundation<br>for a baby massage training course for<br>a member of the Children’s Centre<br>staff.  Seedlings training fund only<br>makes small grants towards the cost,<br>and they funded a grant £45.00.<br>However, they decided to grant a<br>further £200.00 from the 0-5 fund. The<br>full cost was made up from our own<br>funds.  This training has now taken<br>place but the courses that will result<br>from it will not commence until the<br>new year.<br>In late summer we funded a holiday for<br>a needy family at Primrose Valley near<br>Filey. ## **Achievements and Performance**

This will<br>be taken forward in the new year.<br>An application to Children in Need for a<br>wellbeing worker is expected to be<br>completed in the near future.<br>Other grant giving bodies that we<br>should apply to in 2022 include: BUPA;<br>Screwfix; radio Aire; Lottery Grant;<br>Asda; Tesco; COOP; Morrisons<br>Community Fund, plus many others.<br>The Guiseley Community Foundation<br>Beer Festival is a big source of income<br>for us, unfortunately it has been<br>cancelled for the last 2 years due to<br>Covid, however there is one being<br>organised for March 2022 and<br>hopefully this can go ahead.<br>We were fortunate to receive a<br>donation of £1,000 from Councillor Pat<br>Latty, part of which has been used to<br>enhance the mental health counselling<br>project by providing counselling for two<br>additional families.<br>This year we had two new additions to<br>our ranks, a new Trustee, Pat Latty,<br>was appointed in November, but<br>resigned shortly afterwards for<br>personal reasons.  A New Children’s<br>Centre Manager, Laura Harvey, was<br>appointed around the same time.<br>**----- End of picture text -----**<br>
