IAN STEVENSON ARCHIVE TRUST (Charity Registration No 1181101)

Annual Report for the period 01 April 2022 to 31 March 2023

The Trust was pleased to see that more and more use was being made of its archive. The staff and volunteers at Highcliffe Castle, where the archive is housed under a loan agreement, used items to display in various exhibitions, with clear acknowledgement of the Trust's ownership.

The purchase of two moveable display cabinets, using money donated to the Castle when Highcliffe History Society was wound up, also enabled items from the Trust's archive to be on show to the public in several locations within the Castle.

Researchers looking into various aspects of the Castle's history and the people connected with it have found the archive most useful.

Mr Everett Jones, a local history enthusiast from Mudeford, Dorset, kindly donated to the Trust a cabinet photograph of a young girl taken by Horatio Ellwood. Ellwood was both a professional photographer and headmaster of Highcliffe village school for 40 years until his retirement in 1921. The Trust holds a substantial archive in Ellwood and his family.

The Trust reports no income or spending during the financial year. All expenses have been met by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council, owners of Highcliffe Castle, with whom the Trust has a loan agreement.
