with Exeter University to assist the

have identified the need to involve children
with special educational needs and other
children outside the school environment
such as home schoolers and children with
additional needs such as autism. This will
require an amendment to our charitable

School sessions take 1.5 hours for 20 – 30
students. At some larger schools there will
be 3 sessions with different students in a
day. The competition takes place over 2
hours. There is background preparation,

hone its skills and widen its reach, building
on the experience of the previous year.
Teachers are busy people and feedback has
been by a verbal conversation both during
and after the day. Every school we have
visited has invited us back. One teacher
wrote:_“ Can I please say a huge thank you_
_to everyone for your help with the Edison_
_workshop. The children really enjoyed it and_
_it has made a big impact on their_
_understanding of programming. My daughter_
_came home from [another school] a couple_
_of weeks ago buzzing about the Edison_
_robot workshop she had done there”_
It is not an activity which would justify
schools buying the robots themselves and
teachers are diffident in their coding skills.
Providing an explanation by those who have
programmed robots in industry lends
authenticity.
Whilst we have expanded the number of
sessions and schools during this year and
made more connections with new schools
