Report of the Trustees
The trustees are pleased to present the annual report and accounts of the organisation for the year ended 31 July 2019. Hands For You is a voluntary organisation set up on the 26[th] of November 2017, and registered as a company Limited by guarantee in July 2017, registered as charity in 2018 to respond to the needs of local communities
The charity’s objects are the following:
“For the benefit of the public, in particular, people including children who are in need due to youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances, by:
a) the advancement of education including supplementary education for children
b) the relief of unemployment.
c) the promotion and preservation of good health
e) the provision or assistance in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their conditions of life.

Outputs 2019-2020

HFY ran 17 advice and referrals sessions in the areas of housing and education that benefited 36 users
-
The organisation delivered homework club activities for 11 children and this enabled them to improve achievement at school.

We helped about 34 refugees and asylum seekers for their settlement and integration into the local communities
-
Our employment support activities and referrals helped 11 users and 07 of them have been able to secure full and part-time work
-
The organisation assisted 33 and 14 individuals facing financial difficulties due to the COVID-19
Plans for 2020/2021

Through the organisation employment support activities and training we expect to help about 18 people
-
We will continue the advice and referral sessions in the areas of housing, education and welfare benefit to support about 39 people over the period
-
The organisation will continue to deliver home club activities for 13 local children and young people.

We will continue to assist more people hit by the pandemic as the crisis continue
-
The organisation will continue to involve more local people as volunteers to support its activities.

Trustees’ responsibilities
Charity law requires charity trustees, to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of the affairs of the charity and of the results of the charity at that period. In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required to :
-
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
-
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
-
state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any materials departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements;
-
prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to assume that the charity will continue on that basis.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable it to ensure that the financial statements comply with the company Act 2006 and charity Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps and detect fraud and other irregularities.

For the year ending 31/07/2020 the company was entitled to exemption from audit under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.
The member have not required the company to obtain an audit of its accounts for the year in
question in accordance with section 476, the directors acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts these accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to
companies subject to the small companies regime.

Notes to the accounts for the year ended 31 July 2020
1. Accounting policies
- a) Basis of accounting policies
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention, as modified by the inclusion of fixed assets investments at market value, and in accordance with applicable accounting standards and follow the recommendation in the statement of recommended Accounting and Reporting Practice by charities.
b) Grants
Grants are recognised in the statements on accrual basis following the satisfaction of any pre-conditions
c) Expenditure
Expenditure is recognised on accruals basis
- D) The organisation’s reserve policy is to retain 06-10 % of its unrestricted fund at the end of each financial year.

Independent Examiner’s report to the Trustees
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice, Reporting applicable Accounting Standards and the Charity and company Act 2011 and 2006
Responsibilities of the Trustees
The trustees and the Management Committee are responsible for the preparation of the accounts and that you consider the audit requirements of the charities and company Acts 2011 and 2026. It is my responsibilities to state on the basis of procedures specified in the directions given by Charity Commissioners whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of my examination
The examination of the accounts was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the charity commissioners. The examination includes:

A review of the accounting records kept by the charity

A comparison of the accounts presented with those records made available
-
Consideration of any unusual items and disclosures in the accounts

Assessment and significant estimates and judgements made in preparation of the financial statements
-
Examination of evidence relevant to the amount of disclosures in the financial statements
I planned and performed my investigation so as to obtain all the information and explanations which I consider necessary in order to provide me with sufficient evidence to give reasonable assurance that the financial statements are free from material misstatements whether caused by fraud or irregularity of error. In forming my opinion I also evaluated the adequacy of the presentation of information in the financial statements.
Opinion
In my opinion the financial statements as prepared give a true and fair view of the charity state of affairs as at 31 July 2019 and the incoming resources and their applications in the year ended have been properly prepared in accordance with general directions given by Charity Commissioners.
