|||exhibits (revamp of the main display area to|
|||accommodate a major gift of items from a|
|||local textile business upon its Closure). We|
|||have drawn up plans to make improvements|
|||to the cafe and kitchen area and work has|
|||now started on these. We have identified|
|||external grant-awarding bodies whose|
|||criteria are such that we are able to apply for|

||financial position at the end||was established as a CIO in _2018_ to take|
||of the period||over the assets and operations of Bancroft.|
||||Mill Engine Trust (the Trust).|
||||The Museum was closed to the public by|
||||COVID restrictions until August 2021 and the|
||||opportunity was taken to bring forward some|
||||planned maintenance to the Cornish boiler|
||||which is essential for the operation of our|
||||engines. After allowing for this expenditure,|
||||there was a surplus of Normal Income over|
||||Expenditure of £774.|
||||In addition, we received extraordinary|
||||income of £19.051 from Central Government|
||||in COVID related grants. Some of this|
||||money was used to fund the various capital|
||||improvements mentioned above (work to|
||||trees, roof repairs and improvements to the|
||||electrical system).|
||||Overall, there was a surplus of income over|
||||expenditure of £ 11,039.|
||||The Charity also received a capital transfer of|
||||£3,000 from Bancroft Mill Engine Trust,|
||||which will be wound up early in 2022.|
||Statement explaining the|Para 1.22|Significant reserves are held in order that|
||policy for holding reserves||essential maintenance of the infrastructure,|

||||This is a vital part of our estate: without the|
||||chimney we cannot run the boiler and|
||||without that we cannot run the engines, so|
||||preserving the chimney keeps the Museum|
||||alive as well as preserving an architecturally|
||||significant local landmark which is now one|
||||of only a tiny number still existing.|
||||We are also building up reserves with a view|
||||to redeveloping the frontage of the Bradley|
||||Engine House. This is a long-term project|
||||which will upon completion see a greatly|
||||increased amount of space which we can|
||||devote to the public, be it for exhibition|
