OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

To advance educalion for th8 publlc benefit in the techniques and skills of phllanlhropy, enabling charities and olhèr
nonprofit bodies lo increase their funding lo furiher their charllable purposes. We do Ihls by:
Conducllng research through lh8 lens of phllanlhroplc psychology into philanthropy and fundralslng.. and
Providing education, Irainlng and support to enable all stakeholders to ulilis6 Ihe emerging science that we and
others generate.
The Institute exi818 to grow personally meaningful philanthropy around the World, and il will do so by focuslng on
developlng thg science of how pèople love others and lov& Ih8mselves. If th8 experience ol philanlhropy can b8 mad&
more meaningful, w8 hypolhesi58 that indivlduals wlll glve moré and giv& for longer.
Curienlly, our ￿searCh programs focu8 on Ihe science of idenlily, love and wellbeing. We generale new Iheory which
we then lesl in fi6ld oxperimenls with oharilies and other nonprofits around the world. We then publish our findings in
academic journals. books, or in our own research report series {which are free to download) so Ihal others may use Ihe
ideas. We also disseminate Ihls work globally Ihrough sector conlerences 8nd events. In 2024, we presenled {digitally
or face-lo-facol al coriferences based In the UK, USA, Norway, Hungary, Poland, Canada, and Australia. We also offer
a range of digital learning packages and Certificale courses which showcase these ideas and leach participants how lo
use Ihom. The Inslilule will also m8nlor oharili8sJnonprofil8 who wlsh lo switch lo a communicalions approach based
on phllanlhropic psychology
The creation of new scienllflc rosaareh and the dissemination ol our findings Is tho coro of the public benefit we
provlde. Our Iruslees have been supplied with copies of the guidance issued by Ihe Charity Commission on public
benefit. Such guidance is also provlded lo new Iruslees as part of Iheir induction process. The Board lakes its
responsibilities in this regard very $81iously and all our aclivilies are consislenl with that guidance. The IFSP'S aclivilies
are Tevlewed quarterly by the full board and guided by a "mission sub-commille8" of the fLtII board whose role is lo
shap8 Ihg ovolulion of OLtr public ben8fil activities and inlorm our strategic thlnking and p18ns.
On8 illusliallon of that process in 2024 was the Inlroducllon of a bursary program for small and mlcro nonprofits.

Our activities group inlo three broad headings
1. Sclentlffic Research and Publications
In 2023, we published Ihe Ihlrd edition of our fundraising lexlbook Fundraising.- Princlples and Practice with Wiley. We
also sign8d a conlr8cI to produce the fifth edllion of our Roulladgè lexlbook "Fundraising Man8gem8nl'. Analysis.
Plannlng and Pr8tt1ice." We expect that lexl lo b8 publishgd earfy in 2Q26.
We also publi5hod a 18x1 based on our 81udy ol Uttra-Hlgh-Net-Worth and High-Net-Worth phllanthropy. "Meaningful
Philanlhropy.. The Person Behind th8 Giving- was produced by Ihg Bristol Universily Press. Th8 lexl was awarded the
2025 AFP Skyslone Partners Research Prize. A scientific paper based on il has also been submilled lo th8 Academy
of Management for in¢lu8ion in Iheir conference and onward publication in an acadFmic ovllel.
Addillonally. our paper "An Exploration ol How Construal Level Framing Determines Bequost Glvlng Behaviorf, was
published by Ihg Joumal of Phllanlhropy and Marketing in Juna.
2. Educallonal Programmlng

- Our website had 6.900 active users. Some 5,100 of those were new users

application of philanthropic psycholo9y into fundr8islng communicallons.
We also developed an impact study in partnership wilh ColoradoGives.org lo track the impact of our programme.
Participants who comple18d Ihe programme Increased Ihe Ilkelihood of reaching their fundraising goal by 150Vfi. We
also found this increase sustained into Ihe second year following our inleTvonlion.
In 2024. we applled for and wore awarded. European Fundralslng Assoclallon certlficalion for our DipEoma programs.
3. Menloring and Consultancy Support
As oullined above, Ihe Inslilule works wilh clients lo help Ihem embed new approaches to donor communication based

and how giving can be doubled over a 40-monlh period by focusing on the right forms of love. AWL condLtcled similar
lesling and achieved subslanlive growth in Iheir social media as well as regular fundraising campaigns whon thay
fine-luned thè type of love experience they providad their 8UPPOrters.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Reservas pollcy
IFSP Inlends lo hold thrée months of all expendllure plus a further three months staff costs lo allow the organlsalion to
adapt lo any ¢hangos in th8 Incom& or expenditure of the organlsallon. The Iruslees esiablished £200,000 as thé targèt
for 2024, based on the 2023 financlal report. Thls targ81 lor cash re8eTves was mel fflaking it possibl8 lo conslder
addlllonal appoinlmenls in 2025. Currently under consideration is Ihg appointment of a progTamme officer andlor
part-lime CEO. Two exisling role5 were made redundant in 2024 to permit the necessary restruolur5ng. The risk profile
facing IFSP and resullanl rtsk policy were unchanged In the cal8ndaf year. The biggest risk lo the Inslllule femains the
potential loss or in¢apacily of one of Ihe Prolessorial tèam.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governlng document
The charity is conlfolled by Ils governlng document, a d¢¢d of trust and con51ilul6s an unlncorporaled chartly.
The IFSP is a Charitable Incorpoialed Ofganisalion ICIOI adopllng a ¢onslitution as Ils governlng document.
The Board of Iruslees administers the charily. The B08rd meels quarterly and there are sub.committees covering
governance, mission (public benefil) and financelaudil. The Board also appoinls a Director lo manage the day-lo.day
oporalions of the organisalion and currently this rol& is splil bets¥een Prof Adrfan S8rgeanl and Prof Jen Shang. To
facililale effecllve operallons. the Dire¢lor{sl have dolegaled authority, wllhln Ihe loims of delegailon approved by Ihè
Irusteas, for maller8 including finance, employm8nl. leachlng and research.
We Current￿ have 8 trustees aThJ are permilied lo appoint a maximum of 12. Ea¢h Iruslee will normally 8erv8 a term of
Ihfee years. We are allempling lo stagger the timeline ol Ihese appolnlmenls lo ensure conlinuily and slabilily.
