The Trustees are pleased to repoft that during the calendaT year 2025 these objects were furthered
In all ol the activltles and meetin85 Of the Society arKI the Trustees wish to record thelr thanks to all
those, Officers. members and service providers for thelr work in maintainin8 the lif@ and witness of
the Soclety. Glven the programme for the weekend conference. Nlcaea Received, the AGM WI5 held
separately and electronically on 14th May. Forty-tsvo members allended and a further 21 PfesÈnted
their apologies. At the meeting The Re¢d Paul 8enfield stood down as Treasurer and The Ven Moira
Astin was elected to ￿Place hlm. There were two nominotion5 for Charity Trustee5, both returnin8
for another term of service- Paul 8arber and Frances Godden.
The meetin8 received the annual accounts of the Charity which had been independently examined
and these, with the Treasurerf5 report. are appended at the end of this report. The society relies
almost entlrely on its members for Its Income. Durinq thls reportlng peTiod the Charity received
some sponsorship from Wrigleys. Stone Kin8 arxl Birketts, to whom the Trustees express their
grateful thanks.
The Society made a small surplus of £3k in the year. in spite of the significant costs of the Nicaea
Received event. We a￿ grateful for the generous sponsorship received. Membershlp Subscriptions
were Increased for thls year, and thls resulted in a higher level of income which helped offset the
higher Costs of the CUP Contract forthe Joumal and of the cOnfe￿nCe. The Balance of Reserves at
the year-end was £69k. This exceeds the minimum set out in the Reserves Policy (which was revised
in January 20251 arml is believed to be an appropriate level to hold.
The Trustees met on four occaslons in 2025. A maSor subject on the agenda of the first two meetlngs
was to flnallse the detall of the forthcomlng weekend Conference Nicaea Re¢elved: 171KI years of

Canons, Councils and ecumenlsm whith was held from 20th to 22nd June 2025 In Chlthester. The
Conference was acclalmed by all who attended as being a m05t Suc￿55￿1 and Ehallengln8
e¢umenlcal event, A5 reported last year, the keynote addre55es were 8iven His All-Holine5S the
Ecumenlcal Patriarch, Professor Myriam Wljlens and The Rt Revd Christopher Cocksworth the Dean
ofwlndsor.
The thnference domlnated our artivity in the perlod covered by thls report and the sovernanre
struaure revlew aroup h85 not rnet. The group wlll reconvene In the comlng year.
In addltlon to the Weekend Conference alrea¢ty referred to. a lecturè programme was dellvered wlth
both In person and vlrtual events. The London Lectures were at the Grosvenor Chapel
There was a 5erles of online lectures. This be seen on the Socletys YouTube channel.
The tralnln8 committee events have contlnuod to prove popular wlth members and non-rnember5.
All tralnlng events thls year took place on Zoom. The Eccleslastlcal Law 8lte-Slzed 5er4es of tralnlnq
events have contlnued and are proving to be very popular. The Trustees record thelr thanks to all
members of the tralning committee and to others who have ass15ted In these tasks.
The Trustees are also gratefvl to all the volunteer5 who offer to asslstthem in the work of the
chorlty. We re￿rd our ongolng thanks to the sertlon edltors of the Journal ind to Its Edltor, gen
Hgrri50n. This is aur flagshlp publlcatjon. and we conttnue to work clgsely wlth CUP to 8u•rantee Its
productlon and dlstributlon. The Rerfd Russell Dewhurst and the Rewd Stephen Coleman dellvered
teachlng In canon law at several Theolo8lcal Educatlon InstItutlor￿ of the Church of England,
presentlng the ELS course 'Canon Law for the Newly Ordalned.. The course is updated each year and
Is a￿ayS enthusla5tically recelved by about to beqln th•lr ordalned mlnistry.
The ELS agaln ￿lIaborated with th• Inn•r T•mph In •n •nnu•l Ecclesiast￿1 Moot Compotltlon by
provldln8 8 generous cash prlie to the wlnner. A sbrnllar competitlon has begun at Nottln8h•m
Unlverslty, and the Trustees are deli8hted to be able to work wlth a member to support thi$
Inltiatlve.
