CITY OF HULL STREET ANGELS ANNUAL REPORT – YEAR ENDING SEPTEMBER 2022
A year in which the City of Hull Street Angels were able to continue supporting the nighttime economy of Hull City Centre. We welcomed new volunteers to our ranks and said farewell to others who had served us well. Two of our founder trustees – Tess Ellerington & Steve Taylor left to pursue other activities but remain loyal supporters.
We were pleased to support Hull Pride and provided support at the annual event – our support bus was sited in the midst of the entertainment in Queen’s Gardens and was well received by the crowds. We were able to raise funds there too by holding one of our amazing tombolas.
Our fundraising met new heights especially from the Golf Day we were able to have at Ganstead Golf Club – we raised over £2000 at that event alone. We also received our share of the Lord Mayor’s Charity - £6053. These two amounts have boosted our bank balance and have enabled us to do further training with our volunteers.
We are committed to making sure our volunteers are supported and trained and have provided courses throughout the year.
We were once again supported by ARCO – one of their staff Rebecca Kirby was sadly killed in a road accident in Hull city centre and our Street Angels attended the scene. Arco staff had a collection which was matched by their company – we received over £700 from them. Becky’s family have also donated to us personally. We have purchased defibrillators – 1 portable and the others situated around the city centre. We are awaiting approval from the City Council for permission to site one in Whitefriargate.
KCom kindly gave us a donation of £400 from their community support programme.
The people of Hull continue to ‘love’ the Street Angels and this is shown in their generosity towards us. We regularly received donations when out on patrol. Kay Somers – our No.1 Street Angel regularly collects this money for passing on to our treasurer.
We approach the next year with a healthy bank balance and smiling faces. Thank you to everyone who has supported us in whatever way, without this support we would not be able to function as we do.
