We are volunteers. On call every day, of every month, of every year. Whatever the time, day or night. Whatever the weather. Saving lives.

## **DETAILS OF PERSONS OR BODIES ENTITLED TO APPOINT CHARITY TRUSTEES AND METHOD OF APPOINTMENT**

Reserves are that part of a charity’s unrestricted funds that is freely available to spend on any

- to provide a level of working capital that protects the continuity of our work

- to provide a level of funding for unexpected opportunities

- to provide cover for risks such as unforeseen expenditure or unanticipated loss of income.

The board of trustees will at times designate funds from free reserves for significant project

costs or replacement of major assets.

## **FINANCIAL REVIEW**

The Trustees are satisfied with the financial position of the charity.

## **Grant Making:**

During the last financial year, the Charity made no specific grants to any other charitable organisations.

## **DEVELOPMENT, ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS**

During this year Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Team had 49 incidents, working as an individual team and alongside other mountain rescues teams within South Wales, Coastguard and statutory emergency services.

We now have 35 trained team members, with 10 support members. The trustees remain proud and confident that we are an effective and cohesive team.

We have supported a number of local events, which have generated publicity and much needed income for the team, those being the Richard Burton 10km race, The 10 Y Fan charity walk and the Merthyr Mawr Pudding Race.

We again have worked very closely with the other teams in the area and the trustees are confident that our working relationships with our colleagues in neighbouring teams remain excellent.

## **FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS**

Investing our efforts in training new members allowing them to learn the skills to become effective mountain rescuers is one of our primary developments. Promoting mountain safety to members of the public to reduce the number of call outs the team receives is at the forefront of our activities. Vehicles remain our biggest asset and we are planning for the next refurbishment or replacement project.

## **VOLUNTEERS AND THEIR FAMILIES**

The trustees would like to acknowledge and thank all the members for their hard work and commitment this year, special thanks go to the exec, the team officers and the party leaders for making sure things happen as and when they are supposed to. It is also important to recognise the families of our volunteers who support the team by supporting members to undertake the training and callouts throughout the year.

## **PUBLIC BENEFIT STATEMENT**

The Trustees confirm they have complied with the duty in section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 to have due regard to the guidance published by the Charity Commission including public benefit guidance.

Signed on behalf of the trustees by:
