Trustees’ Annual Report for the period

From April 2021 Period start date To March 2022 Period end date

Charity name: Victoria Gems, Jewels and Treasures

Charity registration number: 1180854

Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 Victoria Gems, Jewels and Treasures is
made up of three groups providing
Wraparound and After School Care for
children who attend the infant
department of Victoria Community
Primary School. We also provide LEA
funded Early Education for 3-year-old
children in the term/s prior to them
starting their nursery provision.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
Little Gems provides quality, affordable
childcare for our nursery children prior
to, or following on from their nursery
session at the school. Jewels provides
affordable flexible childcare for our
infant children after school up to
5.30pm. These groups enable our
working parents to continue to work in
the knowledge that their child is being
cared for in a safe and stimulating
environment.
Little Treasures is our funded Early
Education group enabling parents to
access Foundation Phase provision for
1 or 2 terms prior to their child starting
their nursery provision.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 The trustees have had due regard to the
guidance issued by the Charity
Commission. Our main purpose is to
provide wraparound care for children in
our care. We provide a service to a
section of society ie the working
parents and carers of our children and
this is our main focus and why we exist.
In all that we do as trustees we will
ensure that our action and work will

further the services that we provide for our parents and children.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 Our setting has continued to provide
quality affordable childcare for working
parents since 2001.
We have been able to adapt to
increasing numbers of children wanting
to attend by opening for morning and
afternoon sessions and have provided
an Early Education group since 2011.
We have consistently high numbers of
children attending and have therefore
been able to employ additional staff who
have been able to further their own
professional development.
We support our local community
through visits to age-appropriate
recreational and educational facilities
and have received numerous visitors to
the setting to further develop the
children's knowledge and
understanding of the world around
them.
We support both local and national
charities and have fundraising activities

several times over the course of the school year.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 Below are the audited reports of both
groups from April 2021 to end March
2022. Our Little Treasures group
consists of Early Education children for
whom we receive funding from the local
authority. We have a Service Level
Agreement in place with the Local
authority to this effect which is normally
reviewed every two years.
For Gems and Jewels, we receive
income from fees charged to parents
and carers and also from the local
authority via the 30-hour Childcare
Offer. Parents of 3- and 4-year-old
children can access the offer to cover
childcare costs for the hours attended at
our Little Gems and Jewels groups.
Fees charged to parents not on the
scheme are also reviewed regularly to
ensure that they are in line with fees
paid by the Offer.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 We aim to hold an amount of £26,000 in
our Reserves Policy, to cover
redundancies and/or other unforseen
events that could cause the setting to
close or temporarily cease to operate.
