||||||gatherings,<br>with the Society's usual summer|
||||||garden<br>party having to be cancelled.|
||||||Throughout<br>the year the Society's planning|
||||||team continued to look atapplications<br>for|
||||||planning<br>permission<br>made to Camden<br>Council|
||||||in the Belsize area, reviewing<br>about 39and|
||||||commenting<br>on 11.The year saw our planning|
||||||lead putting<br>in considerable<br>effort at an|
||||||appeal<br>by the developers<br>ofthe site at 100|
||||||Avenue Road, Swiss Cottage. The developers|
||||||were challenging<br>the Council's refusalto|
||||||reduce the obligations<br>around the provision of|
||||||affordable<br>housing. The Society appeared<br>as|
||||||an interested<br>party and provided<br>a submission|
||||||to the Planning<br>Inspector. The result was very|
||||||much as we had hoped, with the Inspector|
||||||upholding<br>the Council's decision.|
||||||The Society welcomed<br>a new committee|
||||||member to monitor local tree applications,|
||||||looking at 276applicati'ons<br>and commenting|
||||||on 28.There was also a positive dialogue<br>with|
||||||Camden<br>Council about how to celebrate the|
||||||Queen's<br>Platinum<br>Jubilee by planting trees in|
||||||the area. We met with the Council to discuss|
||||||the enforcement<br>ofits policies concerning|
||||||large developments.|
||||||The quarterly<br>newsletters<br>continued to be|
||||||produced,<br>with the 2021edition ofour|
||||||popular Tradesmen<br>You Can Trust pamphlet|
||||||accompanying<br>the August newsletter.<br>Issues|
||||||included<br>articles drawn from the Society|
||||||archives to celebrate 50years ofwork, as the|
