## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE**

The Trust supported the following charitable projects during the year:

1. As part of the Trust’s annual commitment, it continued supporting a local church in the form of food vouchers and running of a soup kitchen for those in need. It also continued supporting a charity in Glasgow who work with organisations in the Glasgow and surrounding area distributing food to families in need.

2. During the year, the Trust assisted more than 1800 people for their cataract eye surgeries throughout different cities in Tanzania. These were for the poor villagers who could not have afforded to pay for the surgery. Additionally, the Trust supported the construction of 5 water wells in schools where there was a shortage of water. The Trust also distributed food parcels to poor villagers during the month of Ramadan.

## **Livingston Charitable Trust Trustees Annual Report**

4. In Kenya, the Trust continued its aid for food, medicine and Water Projects. Water Wells were constructed and tanks installed in villages where water was scarce. Electric fans were also provided to villagers which helped them due to the extreme hot weather.

5. The Trust assisted in paying for the annual cost of a welfare centre in Bangladesh and Philippines. The Trust also supported several Orphanages during the year.

## **FINANCIAL REVIEW**

During the period under review, the charity received unrestricted income of £791,555 (2023: £871,467) and had an expenditure of £522,321 (2023: £657,669). At the balance sheet date the charity held unrestricted funds of £624,692 (2023: £355,458).

It is the policy of the charity that unrestricted funds which have not been designated for a specific use should be maintained at a level equivalent to between three and six month's running costs. Whilst the current levels of reserves exceed this amount the trustees consider this to be appropriate considering the current wider macro economic events, which may result in a significant drop in donation receipts.

Donations are raised through contacts the trustees have with potential donors.

## **PLANS FOR FUTURE PERIODS**

In 2025 the Trust has pledged to continue to support activities mentioned above with their ongoing deserving works being carried out. We will also happily support any other worthy charities that apply to our Charity for aid.

**Livingston Charitable Trust Independent Examiners Report**

## **Independent Examiner's Report to the trustees of Livingston Charitable Trust**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of Livingston Charitable Trust for the year ended 31 December 2024.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').

I report in respect of my examination of the charity's financial statements carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner's statement**

As the charity's gross income exceeded £250,000 your examiner must be a member of a body listed in section 145 of the 2011 Act. I confirm that I am qualified to undertake the examination by being a qualified member of FCCA.

I have completed my examination. I can confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

- the accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

- the financial statements do not accord with those records; or

- the financial statements do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of financial statements set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the financial statements give a 'true and fair' view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the financial statements to be reached.
