The trustees of The Friend5 of Bourne charity present their annual report and audited accounts for
the year ended 31" March 2021 and confirm they comply with the requirements of the Charities Act
2011. the trust deed and the Charities SORP IFR51021
OURAIMS
Bourne Community College aims to provide a first class education to boys and girls between the ages
of 11 and 16. We seek to provide a structured educational environment that develop5 our studenvs
capabilities. competences and skills. We promote the academic, moral and physical development of
our students through our academic curriculum, pastoral care, sporting and other activities. We
provide an educational environment where each student can develop and fLblfil their potential,
building their self-confidence and implant a desire to contribute to the wider community- We
prepare our students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experience of later life.
The Friends of Bourne aims to support Bourne Community College, by raising much needed funds for
curriculum area projerts to aid the learnin& mental health and equipment for all students in the
School.
OUR OBJEcfivES
To advanee the education of pupils at Bourne Community College by providing and assisting in the
provision of faalities for education * the college.
We include environment, mental health and equipment within our objective, and look to aid Bourne
Comrnunity College by raising funds in these areas as well departmental projects.
Our key objectives for the year included..
l. To increase the number of students attending I working in STEM.
2. To continue the success of the Green Car projert.
3. To improve learning for students with additional needs.
4. To increase provisions and equipment for curriculum areas who are in need to further
broaden their curriculum and engage their students.

REVIEW OF AcfiviTIES AND ACHIEVMENrs
Disadvantaged Chiklren
We were gifted funds from an anonymous donor which is to be used to give extra support to
disadvantaged children and families during Covid. This is an ongoing project and to date we
have been able to buy a fridge freezer for a family that didn't have one, 3 bed for a child who
was sleeping on the floor, a washing machine for a family whose machine had broken and
couldn't afford a new one, as well as cash donations and gift card5 given directly to families.
Some of the funding has been used to pay for Councillors to sijpport children particularly
affected by the pandemi
Whole School
At the end of each term. we have been able to award vouchers to students in years 7- 11
who have excelled in their learning and attendance. This has had a positive impart on their
self-confidence and studenvs attendance. It has boosted their wellbeing and morale after
two years of rained 5th00ling due to COVID.
Curriculurn Area Achievements:
Special Educational Needs
We have been raising funds to create a sensory garden which will be used by students who
have more complex needs. This is an ongoing projett for which we are still raising funds. The
funds currently donated are being held in the account until the full sum needed has been
raised.
STEM
We have had numerou5 donations specifically tsrgeted to our school Greencar projeLt.
This is an electric car which students build and ra￿ and contributes to team development
and sustainability.
We have a specific donor who funds this particular project.
Board Game club
This is a club that was set up by one of our Maths teachers, to provide a safe Spa￿ for
likeminded students who enjoy learning strategy and various other skill through playing
games. This has had a positive impact on students who have a safe space to talk. play games
and learn life skills.
Technology
We had a specific targeted donation to Technology which has paid for the school to have a
lathe. This has aided the hands on learning within our design technology and produrt design
curriculum areas.
Maths
We have continued the subscription for Maths Watch to aid in the teaching of Mathematics
to student5, which will further support their success in their Maths GCSE.

LAPTOPS
We were donated some funds to buy laptOP5 to aid home learning during the pandemic. We
have bought 5 Laptops and were granted a number of furtherlaptops from the
councillgovernment.
Think Outslde Projectl ECO CLUB
We have been able to create an outdoor space using an old court yard that wa5 no longer
used. It has been redesigned with flowers. vegetables. a shed and tools to name a few item5
and is now home to two hedgehogs 'Smithy and Nessa,. This has had a positive impact on
the students, and is used by our eco club and various curriculum areas for outside learning.
The impact of planting vegetables and flowers with students has contributed to their overall
well-being and proven clearly that the development of outdoor hobbies and interacting with
nature can enhance their lives. Gardenirg as therapy for children has provided students with
valuable tools for life. Gardening is even being explored as a supplementsry method to aid
children with behawoural issues as this will give them the opportunity to learn new skills.
The ICT within the school is a key part of everyday learning. We have been able to donate
funds to Bourne Community College to help with maintenance and upgrading of the schools
computers within the I￿ curriculum area which need regular updates and replacements.
FWURE PLANS
The Friends of Boume intend to continue raising funds for the school. We would like to
continue the appointment of the fundraiser and we have extended this to July 2021.
We will continue to support our disadvantaged families using the remaining funds donated.
Families in receipt of thi5 are carefully selected with the help of Bourne Community College's
Family Link Support worker.
We would like to continue in the support of the whole school achievements vouchers to
lebrate the achievements of the students who are continually doing their very best.
We will continue to support the Maths department with their subscription to Maths Watch
to aid in the teaching of maths to students at Bourne Community College.
Maintenance and continuation of the Think Outside Project. as and where necessary.

OUR FINANCES
The financial statement show5 that we have had an overall income £42,316.62 which is a
52.5% increase on last year.
Our expenditure for the year is E18.784.36 leaving a credit of £23,532.26 for 2020/2021.
The main source of income has been from two individual donors who have contributed 46%
of the funds raised this year.
Other sources have a150 donated for specific projects suth as Laptops during the pandemic.
As a charity working with Boume Community College, we would like to ensure all our
parents that the income raised through The Friends of Bourne is used for educational
purposes to aid the learning of their children within the school. However 2.7% of the overall
expenditure for 202012021 was used for account maintenance including maintenance of the
website, monthly account fees. licenses and day to day essentials including stationary.
No trustees are employed by the charity and all work is provided voluntarily. No expenses
have been submitted by volunteers or trustees in the financial year 202012021.
Reserves and Financial Health
The finances are regularly reviewed by the trustees of The Friends of Bourne, and a half
termly report is sent by the treasurer. The report shows which projects are still awaiting
funds. what has been spent and where.
The charity maintains its reserve of £ll)00.00 as per the governing document and financial
policy.
The current account balan￿ is in excess of £26,000 with funds donated to specific projerts
and departments.
