Statement of Trustees. ResponslbSlttles
The trustees are responsible for preparin8 the trustees, report and the financial statements in
accordance with applicable law and regulations.
Charitable law requires the trustees lo prepare financial ststements for each financlal year. The trustees
must not approve ihe finantial statements unless they are satisfied that they Bive a true and fair view of
the state of affalrs of the charitable organisation and of its incoming resources and applicatlon of
resources, includin8 its income and expenditure, for that period.
The trtsstees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show and
explain the charitable organisation's transaction5 and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the
financial position of the charitable organization. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of
the charitable organisation and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of
froud and other irregularities.

The promotion of community participation in healthy reCreat￿n for the benefit of the inhabitants of
Newbury and the surrounding neighbourhood by the provision of facilities for canoeing

Newbury Canoe Club provides facilitles and tralnln8 that enable Indlviduals to experlence the sport of
canoein8. Canoeing can contribute towards the health and wellbein8 of individuals through exercise and
the contact with the outdoor environment.
The trustees confirm that they have complied with the requirements of section 4 of the Charities Act
2011 to have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charlty CommSsslon for England
and Wales.
Achlevements and perfommnce
The Income and Expenditu￿ Account shows a105s of £647 during the year. The canoe club has
£38,936.92 available.
The Trustees are happy that the club membership has grown steadily during the course of the year. The
voluntary led three beginners programmes operated throu8h the summer months played a large part In
driving the membership increase.
The Club has a fledgling Stand Up Paddle Board membership thanks agaln to the efforts of out two
volunteer Instructors. The club has purchased a suite of SUP boards and additional be8inner plastic
boats.
Flnancially the club is Stable with membetship fees covering the basic runnin8 costs and Income from
the volunteer or8anised waterside series generating a surplus that allows the club to develop.
The clubs boat storage is at capacity and we have received Planning Pemiission for the construction of a
new boat house.
The trustees are tonfi(Jent that Newbury Canoe Club can look forward with confrflence to continuing the
club5 development. New members are bringing new skills and it is good to see that recent members are
now taking on leadership roles within the dub.

Memorandum and Articles of Association. registered at the Charitie5 Commission in October 2018. NCC
registered as a charity with the Charity Commission on 19 November 2018, Reg No. 1180755.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/05/2024. 

**Responsibilities and** As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation **basis of report** of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

## **Independent examiner's statement** 

I have completed my examination.  I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 

- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or 

- the accounts do not accord with the accounting records 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
