Structure. Governance and Management
Faversham Umbrella is a Charitsble IncorFM)rated Organisalion (CIO).
The Board of Trustees consists of an effective mix of members with experience of
relevance to the overall ne&ls of the ChariLy. The day-to4ay management of the
Charity is delegated to the management team. Extemal advice is sought from various
agencies to ensure up to date rnethodologies are employed.
The Chair of Trustees ￿vIewS the board every year with the aim of ￿entrfylng
training needs and the board's general effectiveness.

During the year the Trustees have reviewed all major risks which the Charity could
suffer and confinn all necessary action has been taken to mitigate.

An incredible amount of work has been undertaken behind the scenes to streamline
our operations and improve Health & Safety systems. We have:
Upgraded management strategies and administrative pro￿sSes, which has
been essential for sustaining emotional well-being in a high-needs
environment.

Secondary school work experience support for a week period
Canterbury College - supporting students on EHCP'S over a longer
period of monlhs. 1 day a week.
Canterbury Christ Church University Supporting Occupational Therapy
students over a period of months full time.

Faversham Umbrella founded and chaired the Faversham Community Networking
Group (FCNG), promoting inter-agency collaboration. and play a key role in the
Swale Voluntary Alliance, leading a 9-organisation consortium.

Learning and Development
We ensure we continually utilise our connections to gain feedback and suggestions
for further development. We do this in several different ways"
Occupational Therapists Placements- Leamings sought from their
perspective and introduction to new approaches.
Volunteer Voice and Feedback
Volunteer involvement is central to our success. In January 2024. we conducted a
feedback session that shaped our direction for the year. We continue to maintain this
and use this a basis for development and need. We continued this in January 2025
and gathered an overview of how we help others and support our local community.
The outcome is as the blow diagram. This is an excellent snapshot from our
volunteers of the variety of work we carry out.

Our largest challenge remains our Grade111Ssled bullding:

Maintenance and upkeep
As a resull of this we have initiated a &year strategic plan to investigate improving
accessibilty and modemising facilities.

the year we will seek to build on Ihese relationships to ensure that we can
offer the best support to our visitors.

Reserves Pollcy
The purpose of the Reser￿$ are firstly to operate as a w)rking balan￿ to help
manage the impact of uneven cash flows arvj secondly. to provide a contingency to
cushion the impact of emerging or unforeseen events or genuine emergencEs. In
general, a robust level of reserrfe should be maintsined and take account of
operakn'onal and financial issues facing Faversham Umbrella. A welkrun charity with a
prudent approach lo settiffj its budget will each year consKler its. reserves. In
assessing the level of Faversham Umbrella reserves, account has been taken of the
risks facing the Charity. in lenns of any known significant expenditure requirements
and contingency for any unforeseen expenditure tequirements.
A period of 9 months reseNes has been agreed with a preferen￿ for 12 rrK)nths as
the CharÉty grows.
Investment Policy
This policy will be re-considered by the trustees as the funds grow. At this point in time,
we are not in a positi'on to invest.
Financial Review
The accnunts are prepared on an accnjal basis. The stalement of accounts arKI
financial activities are to be found on pages 18 to 27. The surplus for the year was
£12,621 (2024 £8.398) of which £(9.979) (2024 £3.976) is restricted funds. The
amounts carried forward are £356,504 (2024 £366.483) on restricted funds and
£79.775 (2024 £57,175) unrestricted.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charty for the
year ended 31 •Aarth 2025 which are set out on pages 18 to 27.

As the charity trustees. you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in
accordan￿ with requirements of Ihe Charities Acl 2011 (Yhe Act,).
I report in respect of my exarninatK)n of the charivs accounts carried out under section
145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying oul my examination. I have followed all the
applicabte Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the
Act.

Initially looked at prartical •dvKe &inf0m￿tiOn around the marria8e INeakdown & gently explored
thoughts around coercNe control from husband (client denied}. Solicitor secufed.
Used a local'chatty bench. eveni io invoLKKe ¢0 specialist mentsl health befriendin8 service. Th
has proved enorTh￿)USty beneficial wrth regular. weekly calls Irom a student in mental health. Also
explored other local community venues & cl•ent up for 6 week COUTse at the local community

hours you f an foi8et Lwerythin8 that's bad & Caus1￿ you pain". a￿nt also attending the Umbrella
