The Trustees have pleasure in presenting their Teport and the accounts of South
Westrninster Lega Advice Centre CIO (Ihe CIO.) for Ihe year to 31* December 2021.

During the period, the I￿￿1S totsl Incomo ¥Yas £25.45312020.' £22,096) and its oxpendlturo
was £12.737 12020.. £19.577}. The surplus of £12.716 (2020: £2.5191 was largely
attributable to reduced outgoings dunng the pandemic, and to expenditure being deferred to
the nexl periiyj. This SUTplus has been caffi8d to Ihe C￿leral ReseNe, and we antscipate
that we will need to •XP8nd much of this on updated rr. Case manageTrrrt, and cyber-
security systems.

Major events during the period have impaded on the opwations of the CIO..
For the flrst h8tf of the period, the rlsks to our volunteer5 and d￿nts posed by the Covld-19
pandemic I))n￿nued to prevent us open for ta￿t0&face consUlts￿n8. When we sought to
dlscuss r&opening with our landlord. it emerged that we needed to move again. So we have
moved our operations to the Abbey Centre, 34 Great Smith Street, Westminster, London
SW1 P 3BU: this is a Community and Conference Centre near lo Westminster Abbey. whose
charitstr￿e objects are close to our own.
Second. the Covid-19 pandem￿ has (￿ntinued to disrupt (xr wish to r84yn for f￿1(>face
consultations". the satety of our volunteer5 and dients is paramounL. We sp8nt much of the
second half of the year planning to rH>p￿. and hop8d to open in January 2022.. in the
event, this slipped back to February 2022. Our heartfelt thanks go out lo our volunteers, who
have adapted as we have had to eveolve. aThJ have continued to advise electronically.

generously give of their own time and energy to advise lI￿se less fothnate than themselves.

I report on the accounts of the South Westminster Legal Advice Centre
for the year ended 31 Decembèr. 2021 which are set out on the followin8 pages.
Respectlve responsibilities of trustees and examiner
As the charity's trustees. you are responsible for the preparation of the attounts and you consider
that an audit Is not required for thi5 year under section 144 of the Charltie5 Act 20111.the Charitles
Act") and that an independent examination is needed. It is my resp)nsibilty to: examine the
accounts under settion 145 of the Charities Act- to follow the procedures laid down in the general
Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 1451511b) of the Charities Act. and to state
whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basls of Independent examlnerfs report
My examination was carried out in accordan￿ with the general Dlrectknns 8lven by the CharSty
Commission. An examination indude5 a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a
comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any
unusual items or disclosures in the accounts. ond seeking explanations from you as trustees
concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do n¢t provide all the evldence that would
be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present
"true and fairf view and the report is limited to those matters

Independent examiner's slatement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attentlon". {11 which gives me
reasonable eause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: to keep accounti
records in accordance wlth section 130 of the Charitles Act: and to p￿pare accounts which accord
wlth the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have
