## **Structure and management** 

The group is a charitable incorporated organisation, part of the Riding for the Disabled Association, and managed by the Trustees listed above.  Trustees are recruited from the group’s volunteers and formally elected at the Annual General Meeting.  We have recruited a new Trustee this year, Mrs. Jo Cowley. 

## **Aims and objectives** 

To promote the objects of the Riding for the Disabled Association by providing disabled people with the opportunity to carriage drive to benefit their health and well being both physically and mentally. 

## **Activities and objectives in the year** 

We continued to drive twice a week with all our participants until October 2024. However, the retirement of one of our horses (due to age) and the other horse becoming lame has meant that we have had to suspend activities until we can train new horses.  We have already bought one suitable equine and it will be assessed shortly; a second is awaiting the outcome of necessary vetinary checks before arriving with us to start training.  We encourage our participants, where able, to undertake the proficiency tests devised by the RDA national organisation and some also come to help with simple tasks such as grooming. 

## **Achievements and performance** 

For some of our participants coming to driving is the highlight of their week and offers both physical and mental benefits.  We currently have 12 participants, who attend our twice weekly sessions, and try to accommodate new applicants when we can.  We aim to drive year round, weather permitting.  Our three trainee coaches all passed their assessments last year and we have another coach in training at the moment. 

## **Financial review** 

Our finances remain steady, if down on last year due to expenses in the search for suitable new equines. 

**Policy on reserves:** We aim to have a reserve of approximately one year’s running costs
