The2024annualdinner/dancetookplaceincentralLondoninNovember2024.Thenewvenue attracted
muchinterest,andthemaximumcapacityoftheroomwasreachedwellbeforetheevent.Ashas now
becomecustomary,manyyoungerguestssupportedtheevent.Asinpreviousyears,thenet income
generatedfromthedinner/dancewasanimportantcontributiontowardstheFund'sbudgetfor the
followingyear,2025.Theincomefromthedinner/dancewasagaingreaterthaninprevious years,
largelyduetouseoftheonlineauctionandraffleplatform,butalsoduetothechangeofvenue and
increasednumberofattendees.However,theexpensesrelatingtothedinner/dancewereagain higher
thaninpreviousyears,firstlyduetothemoreexpensivevenue,andsecondlybecausethe increased
costsforallelementsoftheeventduetotheinflationaryeconomicclimate.Despitethis,thenet result
wasanimprovementonpreviousyears.Thenumberandamountofdonationsincreasedsignificantly in
the2024financialaccountingperiod,howeverthevoluntarycontributionsfromMembers were
significantlylowerthaninpreviousyears.ThisislargelybecauseseveraloftheUK-based Members
choosetosupportthroughtheannualdinner/dance.Combinedwiththeregularannualdonations, the
Fundcollectedsufficientmoniestobeabletomakeitsusualcharitabledonations.Themajorityof these
weremadetoindividualsandinstitutionsontheislandOinoussai.TheFundgavedirectfinancial support
toseveralcompatriotsontheislandformedicalassistance;tothe'FundfortheNeedy'whichisrun by
theFriendsofOinoussaiSociety;totheteachingstaffintheschools;totheschoolchildren;andto assist
withtherunningexpensesofSt.Nicholaschurch.TheFundalsocontributedtotherunningexpenses of
theSchools'BoardingHousewhichformsavitalpartoftheisland'scommunitystructure. Financial
supporttothe'subsistencefund',whichprovidessubsidisedmealsforthecadetsoftheNaval Academy,
wasnotrequiredthisyearasthereweresufficientfundsraisedfromothersources.InLondon, the
traditionalholybreadsweredistributedon6thDecember,StNicholas'sDay,anddespiteappealing for
theusualdonations,limitedamountswerereceived.ThetraditionalChristmaseventontheisland was
heldinDecemberandasinpreviousyears,giftsfortheisland'syoungchildrenwerepurchasedby the
Fundfromthetwolocalgiftshopsandgiventoeverychildontheislandtogetherwith refreshments,
supportingthelocalcommunity.Thewebsiteandsocialmediapageshavecontinuedtoprovepositive in
enhancingawarenessoftheFundanditsactivities,aswellasfacilitatingsomeonlinedonations. All
supportcostswereconsciouslykepttoaminimum,soastomaximisetheamountavailable for
charitable activities.
```

amountedto£144,365,ofwhich£37,286representscharitableexpenditure,whilst1.8%wasspent on
support costs.

## **`Reserves policy`**

Thetrusteeshavedecidedthatitwouldbeprudenttoholdtheequivalentof12monthsexpenditure on
keyoverheadsandkeyannualcharitabledonationsinreserve.Withanannualexpenditureof around
£30,000intheUKandinGreece,thetrustwillretainaround£30,000inreserve.Ontopofthis amount,
thetrustalsoretainsapproximately£100,000inordertobeabletocoverprepaymentsforthe annual
dinner/dance,whicharerequiredtobemadepriortoraisingfundsfromticketsales,advertisements in
the souvenir programme, auction prizes and raffle ticket sales.
```

## **`Going concern`**

TheTrusteesassesswhethertheuseofgoingconcernisappropriatei.e.whetherthereareany material
uncertaintiesrelatedtoeventsorconditionsthatmaycastsignificantdoubtontheabilityofthe charity
tocontinueasagoingconcern.TheTrusteesmakethisassessmentinrespectoftheperiodofone year
fromthedateofapprovalofthefinancialstatements.Afterreviewingthefund'sforecasts and
projections,theTrusteeshaveareasonableexpectationthattheTrusthasadequateresources to
continueinoperationalexistencefortheunforeseeablefuture.Thekeyfactorsforthisexpectationare as
follows:

1)Theannualdinner/dancefundraisingeventiswellattendedbyover400people,generatinga net
incomeofaround£21,000eachyear.Theannualdinner/dancefor2025isscheduledtotakeplace in
late-Novemberandisexpectedtobewell-attendedasitisbeingheldinthesamevenueasin2024. It
continues to be a key event in the calendar of the London Greek community.
```

2) The annual contributions and donations from members have increased to around £23,000.
```

## **`FUTURE PLANS`**

Theannualdinner/danceisscheduledtotakeplaceincentralLondoninlateNovember2025. Following
thesuccessofthe2024dinner/danceitisanticipatedthatthe2025eventwillbeequally well-attended
atmaximumcapacity.Requestsforannualdonationsandcontributionsweresentoutinmid-2025 and
willbesentoutagaininearly2026.Beingawareofthecontinuingincreaseinthecostofliving,it is
expectedthatitwillagainbechallengingtoraiseincomefromdonationsandvoluntarycontributions. For
thisreason,anincreasednumberofrequestsforassistancearelikelytobereceivedfromindividuals and
institutions on the island.
```

TheFundhasagainbeenapproachedtoconsiderincreasingitsassistancewiththefinancesrequired to
keeptheisland'sBoardingHouseforstudentsoperational.Thetraditionalsourcesofcharitable support
fortheBoardingHousearenolongerabletocoveralltheannualcostsofthisimportantinstitution on
the island. The Fund will therefore consider if it is able to further increase its contributions.
```

Asinpreviousyears,theFundaimstogivefinancialsupporttoseveralneedycompatriots,tothe 'Fund
fortheNeedy'whichisrunbytheFriendsofOinoussaiSociety,tothe'SubsistenceFund' providing
subsidisedmealsforthecadetsoftheNavalAcademy,totheteachingstaffintheschools,tothe school
children on the island and also to assist with the running expenses of St. Nicholas church.
