|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|We cater for young riders with a wide range<br>of physical and mental disabilities, principally<br>autism and cerebral palsy but also including<br>deafness, learning disabilities,<br>developmental delay and Down’s syndrome.<br>There are very few opportunities in the area<br>we serve for children with disabilities to learn<br>to ride within a supportive, RDA-approved<br>environment, taught by RDA qualified<br>instructors.<br>During the course of 2023 we have<br>introduced groundwork sessions for those<br>children who don't wish to ride but would<br>benefit from becoming more familiar with<br>ponies through grooming sessions. We have<br>also introduced "Tea with a Pony" sessions,<br>a new meaningful activity to help those living<br>with dementia and other long term<br>conditions.RDA created Tea With a Pony in<br>response to the growing number of people<br>living with dementia, for whom horse-riding<br>may not be suitable but who might be helped<br>by some other form of animal-assisted<br>activity involving horses.|
