## **Description of the charity’s trusts** 

The CIO Constitution adopted on 6 November 2018. Type of governing document TBUK Bye-laws. (eg. trust deed, constitution) Minutes of the meetings. Note: The Constitution of CIO will take primacy over other two. Constituted as a Charitable trust. How the charity is constituted (eg. trust, association, company) ➢ Trustee must be a natural person. Trustee selection methods ➢ No one may be appointed as a charity trustee: (a) If he or she is under the (eg. appointed by, elected by) age of 16 years; or (b) If he or she would automatically cease to hold office under the provisions of clause [15(1)(f)] of CIO constitution. ➢ No one is entitled to act as a charity trustee whether on appointment or on any re-appointment until he or she has expressly acknowledged, in whatever way the charity trustees decide, his or her acceptable of the office of charity trustee. ➢ Trustee must be free of criminal record, fraudulent activities, and must work in the best interest of Thousands Buddha UK charity.  Trustees failing to meet these standards should be allowed to resign voluntarily or will be asked to do so by other trustees. ➢ Potential trustee nomination should be put before the Trustees, who will then put forward suitable candidates before the Annual General Meeting for approval.

- ➢ To advance the Buddhist religion in England and Wales for the public benefit in accordance with the Buddhist philosophy.

- ➢ For the public benefit, promote religious and racial harmony, and equality in all Buddhist living in England and Wales.

- ➢ The Covid-19 lockdown (March 2020 to July 2021) and its aftermath hampered many activities, however, the following activities were undertaken: 

- ➢ Since the start of Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020, the Chair had personally volunteered to help those who needed help during the Covid-19 lockdown period. 

- ➢ Aid and advice were given to the charity members and nonmembers affected by the Covid-19 lockdown on how to handle issues they had. 

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit concerning these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** 

- ➢ Promoted civic responsibility and good citizenship using social media platform, and one to one discussion. 

- ➢ Promoted volunteer contribution of members both financially and physically to deliver goods and medicine to in need. Financial contribution toward building the Charity’s place of worship was continued as can be seen on the financial statement provided. 

- ➢ Continuance of help and/or advice to the charity members who were under undue stress due to loss of a family member because of Covid19 and other medical/natural causes. 

- ➢ Due to Covid19 lockdown Buddha Jayanti celebration, generally held in May every year, was postponed until May 2023. 

- ➢ Continued raising awareness of Equality, human right issues and discipline to the members and wider community.
