## **Report of the Trustees for year to 31[st] March 2021**

## **Objects of Organisation**

To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people in the borough of Waltham Forest from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society. For the purposes of this clause "socially excluded" means being excluded from society, or part of society, as a result of being a member of a socially and/or economically deprived community.

To act as a resource for young people living in the borough of Waltham Forest by providing advice and assistance and organising programmes of physical, educational and other activities as a means of:

- (i) advancing in life and helping young people by developing their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals;

- (ii) advancing education;

- (iii) providing recreational and leisure time activity in the interests of social welfare for people living in the area of benefit who have need by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, poverty or social and economic circumstances with a view to improving the conditions of life of such persons.

## **Activities during the year**

For everyone across the world this period was an extraordinary year that impacted people’s lives in many ways. The pandemic and the response to it impacted the activities and the support our charity could provide. Our community centre was closed for most of the period and no activities could take place within the premises. As our services are mainly provided face to face this impacted on what we could do during this period. Therefore, there is not much to report for this period.

During the initial lockdown from March 2020, we tried to keep in contact with our most vulnerable residents to ensure they were accessing the services available and were keeping safe and had family or friends to support them.

Once the initial lockdown phase ended, our charity began to work on trying to plan ahead by looking and planning for the future of the charity including searching for funding opportunities.

Unfortunately, further lockdowns stalled works and plans to restart some further activities and services we usually can provide.

This report is approved by the Trustees and signed on their behalf.
