Objectives and Activities

Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document.

The Akhirah Team is a UK based charity. The purpose of the charity is to raise funds through donations which are the utilised for the benefit of those suffering poverty and to provide aid and relief for those in need in the UK and globally and to ensure that no person is discriminated against on the basis of their age, ill-health, disability, religious belief of gender. We aim to provide assistance regardless of social background and aim to assist those suffering from economic disadvantage by providing foods, aid, finance, clothing and other services as the trustee may consider fit for that project. Our mission statement as a non-profit making organisation and charity is to tackle poverty and assist people in the most deprived communities in the UK and around the world. All of our programmes aim to change the lives of people and benefit them in terms of providing donations and funding for medical treatments, schools, orphanages, food parcels, water wells and other causes for which our charity make the executive decisions to raise funds for.

Background

What a year it’s been! Complications and difficulties resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic had a massive impact on the way we worked this year. Fortunately, we’re not a shy bunch at the Akhirah Team and we thrive on meeting demanding challenges head on. It’s been an active year for us, and we’ve swiftly adapted to extraordinarily tough conditions to achieve the most effective ways to deliver on crucial projects we’ve undertaken as an organisation. Luckily, during pervasive global uncertainty one thing remained a constant for us, the open-handed generosity and continual support of our donors and volunteers. This patronage has made it possible for us to solider on even through uniquely testing times in our mission to provide lifesaving basic essentials to the desperately needy and vulnerable in the world today and do what you have to do to help reduce global poverty and alleviate their pain and suffering.

Our annual report is our opportunity to showcase what we’ve managed to achieve this year with your help. In this document you’ll find detailed updates on the projects we undertook from April 2021 till March 2022. You’ll be able to see exactly how much, where and how we’ve spent the monies, we raised from your contributions this fiscal year. We’ve spent the donations on various project internationally, details of which find in this report. Once again, we’d like to take this opportunity to individually thank each and every benefactor for supporting the valuable work the Akhirah Team does globally and urge you all to continue to support us in the year ahead.

Changes in the structure

Aihtsham Rashid resigned from The Akhirah Team on 17th November 2021.

Achievements and Performance

DAYS OF GIVING

Big thanks to the many businesses who support us throughout the year with the many campaigns we run, but a special mention to HFC, Naheem Barbers, Chicken Shack, SC Glamour, Donner House and Scent Salim for their selfless act to humanity by donating a day of their takings.

RAMADAN 2021

FOOD Parcels

Were distributed in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malawi, Yemen, Palestine, Rwanda & India the packs consisted of Rice, flour, oil, sugar, lentils, onions, potatoes etc.

PALESTINE – Medical Aid Project

Our Palestine Medical Aid campaign during Ramadan was also a massive success too. We were able to provide hearing aids for kids due to hearing loss, pay for minor operations for poor families who suffer from chronic illness. Water Distribution to schools & hospitals. Also provided lifesaving oxygen machines for covid19 patients.

4

SUSTAINABLE Project – Rickshaws

Our Rickshaw project was a massive success which provided sustainability & longterm benefits to 35 individuals to lift themselves out of poverty & improve their lives.

HOUSE BUILD Project

Our House building project made a huge difference to lives of many families in Pakistan. The most basic thing a human being needs to live a simple life after food and water is shelter, yet millions of people around the world still lack this basic essential. Many still live in acute poverty in rudimentary housing. South Asia is one of the most densely populated regions of the world; most of the poor continue to live below the poverty line.

5

TRANSPORT- AMBULANCE Project

We are blessed & emotionally moved & so humbled working alongside HOPE WELFARE TRUST. We were able to purchase a bespoke ambulance for the most vulnerable & needy who often through avoidable suffering have no means of transport or finance to reach a hospital. This great initiative really can save many lives.

FEED THE HUNGRY

Hunger remains one of the most prevalent yet solvable problems in the modern world. Your generous contributions to our food distribution program have continued to make a huge difference to the lives of so many vulnerable people around the globe.

Thanks to your support we can run many feeding programs in places like Bangladesh, Gambia, Kenya, Pakistan, India, Malawi, Rwanda, on a regular basis throughout the year. Again, without your generosity none of this is possible. Thank you.

6

RAISE AN ORPHAN

Our raise an orphan campaign is something we launched in Ramadan. So many young children have lost their parents & finds themselves alone through no fault of their own. We have identified many such children in Pakistan, Palestine & many parts of the world who we can help.

CAKE A DIFFERENCE

Our Cake A Difference campaign was especially pleasing & very well received as we were selling Deluxe Double Chocolate Fudge cake for £10 each that included delivery too!

FITRANA

Your Fitrana was distributed in Pakistan, Bangladesh, India & West Africa to the neediest & vulnerable.

7

PALESTINE -CAR WASH LEEDS

Again, fantastic turnout in Leeds for the support you have given the Akhirah Team car

wash. Masha Allah

a whopping £5450 was raised for the Palestine & Akhirah Team projects campaign! To the many volunteers who washed cars & sold tubs of sweets throughout the day a BIG THANK YOU.

QURBANI

The Akhirah Team successfully completed your Qurbani in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Rwanda & Malawi. Thanks to your donations your qurbani fed many families in need. We thank you for your continued support.

WATER WELLS

For many in the developed world access to clean drinking water is imagined as an indelible right. Thus, we regularly take it for granted! Unfortunately, many in the developing world do not enjoy this entitlement, and

the lack of access to this basic essential often results in the difference between life and death. This year The Akhirah Team has with your support have provided water filtration systems /water pumps in Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Africa so that families in the poorest communities in this part of the world can also enjoy the privilege and benefits of access to clean drinking water.

8

HALIFAX SISTER SNOWDON CLIMB

BIG THANK YOU…. To sister Tehreen from Halifax & the group of volunteers who tirelessly raise money for The Akhirah Team during the year. They raised funds to provide two water wells in Bangladesh by climbing Mount Snowdon in October 2021. Great achievement!

AFRICA DEPLOYMENT

Members of the team alongside volunteers travelled to West Africa Gambia. They visited ongoing projects, girls’ school, construction work, visited orphanage and distributed food, continuation of school feeding program, we aided in hospitals, paying medical bills etc. We have provided food aid, clothes, books, school equipment to rural villages.

9

WINTER CRISIS APPEAL AFGHANISTAN/PALESTINE

Despite the challenges the Covid restrictions had placed on all of us, we continued to reach out to those in need around the world. The Akhirah Team winter crisis appeal was a massive success. A Massive £2210 was raised this time in Rochdale for the Winter Appeal by hosting a Carwash. Thank you to all those who took time out to attend, support & donate.

These packs contained warm blankets & basic food essentials for distribution to the poorest families to help them through the winter months.

LAUNCH OF MSP

In January we launched our Monthly Sadaqah Project (MSP), which gives you the opportunity to donate as little as £1 monthly to help & be part of projects to assist those most in need. Through your donations we will keep you up to date with where your money is going, and the difference it is making worldwide with our monthly newsletter!

So, it allows you to support more causes than ever before. So far to date we have run projects around the world

ranging from feeding programs in Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, building vital water pumps in Pakistan, renovating & supplying carpets to madrasah/masjid in Gambia etc… Your generosity not only allows those living in poverty the support they need today, tomorrow and into the future, but it also offers significant benefits to you and your loved ones. Invest as little as £1 & make a difference today.

10

RENOVATION OF HOMES GAZA PALESTINE

Years of conflict and the blockade have left 80% of the population dependent on humanitarian assistance to survive with the situation deteriorating each passing year. There are many displaced families, elders & children in Palestine. Many have been forced out of their homes or

their homes have been destroyed. The Akhirah Team is committed in providing assistance to help rebuild homes for the neediest.

SPARTAN FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

The Akhirah in collaboration with Spartan Football Academy ran a successful football

tournament to raise awareness for men’s mental health. Great support & turnout again. Was a thoroughly enjoyable day as kids, families were able to participate in the day too, stalls, Ice creams, burgers, food etc…. Great to see the community come together.

11

AJWA LAUNCH

Back by popular demand The Akhirah Team Exclusive Luxurious Handpicked Grade A Ajwa dates from the Blessed City of Medina Saudi Arabia had arrived & was great success! These premium Ajwa dates not only taste delicious but they would make the perfect gift for your closest friends and

family so they too can share these delicious, hand-picked dates during Ramadan.

FUNDRAISERS

Over the course of the year many of our volunteers & partners have helped fundraise for many of our projects from cake sales, stalls, car washes, sweets sales, BBQ’S etc. so a BIG THANK YOU to you all for your support.

12

BANGLADESH DEPLOYMENT

Members of the core team visited Bangladesh for the very first time in March. The Akhirah Team ensured your donations went the extra mile whilst in Bangladesh. From Various Sustainable, Educational & Medical projects, to feeding programs the deployment was a great success. Whilst on the ground in the district of Sylhet Bangladesh we provided free eyecare for the most vulnerable. With your donations we were able to carry out 250 eye tests & pay for 41 cataract operations. We are committed to supporting the establishment of mobile medical and eye camps throughout the World.
