Objectives and Activities
The obpcbves of the CIO are to prote¢ ￿esep￿ aTrJ enhar￿e for the public benefit
environment and bi(KJiversity of Gladstone Park as a place of historic arKI ecological interest
in particular but not exdusively by:

events and fundrasing in ￿p￿rt of stated obpth.ves
During this peti(Jd the Fiiends of Gladstone Park have supported these objectives with the
activi￿5 bek)w.
•Variws guided waPA through the parks led by an expert. This year there were waks *ilh a
focus on the history of the park as well as trees, kn"rds, bats and butterflies.
•Additional walks and ￿1vilieS with a focus on children were introduced in the copse
fOlkn￿ng the work to make rt a vital and welcoming habitat.
•Organising regular Lttter Picks in the park wrth members of the public continued.
The Friends of Gkgdstone Park also organtse a wee￿Y Gardening Group consisting of
regular volunteers who undertake various tasks to maintsin and improve the park- in
particular the walled garden and the copse area.
All trustees have had S￿ht of the Chanty CommiSsK￿,$ gUKlan￿ on public benefit, to make
sure this is taken into account during d￿lSK>n-Maklng.

Achievements and Perforniance
All Friends of Gladstone Park actlvilies have an undertying purpose of encouraglng
peoplo into th• park to enjoy and ￿nefft from this beautifvl public space.
The Gardening Group continued to maintan Ihe Walled Garden in Gladstone Park ak>ng
with the fomal rose beds outside (ntyw refreshed *ith the roses purchased by FOGP).
In addition to the Walled Garden, beds around the upper terrace adjacent to the Walled
Garden were maintained. as well as the beds around what was the bowling green.
A number of Gardening Group volunteers ujntinued to work in the copse area under the
leadership of David Mcclements. who continued to liaise vthh Brent Counol to further the
process of having the copse dassFfied as a Loc21 Nature Reserve in order to recognise the
area and to ensure a plan for its future alongside Brent Council.
The group of people who monrtor butterflies continue to do so and re(x>rd data. As for 2024
we had a complete dats set in 2025- that is we recorded an entry for every week of the
period from the beginning of April to the end of September.
FOGP supported a group of loca women who ￿mpaIgned to get the lower playground in
Gladstone Park renovated.
FOGP had been lobbying Brent on behalf of the local communty to make plans to reopen
the Anson Road Communty CeTrtre, which stts just insKle the park. The building had been
neglected and the council dosed it as they viewed it as unsafe. A proposal was shared with
FOGP for the buikling lo be taken over by a kxal GP practi￿, losing a large amount of
community spa￿. FOGP worked with the council and the GP practi￿ to find a solution
which would retain as much communty space as possible in the new ￿ntre, while still
meeting Brent's desire for the building to be redevdoped wrthout counul funding and the
GP'S need for new prèmises which would allow a popular local pracb'ce to o)nts'nue rather
than being closed down due to lack of space for the number of patients.
FOGP were able to talk to members of the local communty and get their v￿w$ on what they
wanted to see from the park. as well as the proposals for the redevelopment of the Anson
Road Communtty Centre at fundratsing events held in the park..

Financial Review
At the end of this period we have £3.512.46 in the account. which is a healthy amount for us
and a tribLrte to the generous users of Gladstone Park who drop donatTrons into our bucket
and use Paypal or Sumup for electronic donthons.
The charity does not hold reserves as there are no regular outgoings over and above the
annual public liabilty insurance premium and v￿bSite costs.

Brent Council funded the purchase of manure, there bvas a £1.250.(K) dOnat￿n from Waitrose and a
£5￿.00 donation from George Irwin (who hold a funfair in the parkl. The remainder tame from
supporters via EasyFundraising. Sumup and cash donations.

Structure. Governance and Management
The Friends of Gladstone park is constituted as a CIO. govemed by a govemed by a
constttution based on the Foundation Constitution document provided by the Chants'es
Commission.
Under the current constitution, new trustees are appointed by a vote at a property organised
meeting of the current trustees.
