During this period the Friends of Gladstone Park have supported these ￿'eCtiVeS knryth the
adivities below.
Regular litter picks (typically monthty) between Marth and Odober.
18° Felxuary 2023.. Tree Event (at Crithje￿￿od Library). A celebration of trees fl
local thlldren. After an imustrated talk the lrfe-wde of trees they diwded into
groups to produce artwork of trees at eath season of the year.
10 April 2023: Easter Event. Easter themed ad1"￿tieS and garnes for families.
1 V April 2023." Chery Tree Walk. Led by an e>pert. a walk to h* people identsty
and leam about the therry trees in the park.
May 2023.. Oavm Chofus bffd Tlfdlk A wided walk *ith an expert lo hear and
identify the birdsong heard in the paTk as the sun rises.
2￿ May 2023.. Public meeting V4rth Make Space for Girls to diS￿sS making safe
spaces Yor girls and young women to enc￿￿rage Ihem to use the par

June 2023.. History and fvlyths crf the Park walk. Led by a loral tour guide and
leixurer this event also gives local peoFAe ￿ryth long memories the opportunty to
share their experiences and add to the knowledge provided by the walk leader.
2" July 2023.. Butterfy Walk. A guided vrnlk with an expert to identfy and find out
more about Ihe wious species of butterlly in Ihe pwk al this time of year.
23° July 2023.. Nature Walk acrnss the Aad Grassland. A wided vAlk vath an expert
on this rare habiiat has been identified knrythin the pa
3" September 2023: A stroll through the Copse. A walk led by local volunteer David
Mcclements tho has been (Kganising work to refresh a smal VK)oded area within
the park and make it more inwting as well as inLYeasing lis biodiverw.

Bat strolls. Wal(s at dusk bat monitoring equipfflent to deled and identify the
various sperAes of bat limng in the park. These were ￿ganised at relatively short
notice *then weather condilions were favourable.
The Friends of Gladstone Park also (xganise a G¥dening Grwp conssting of regular
volunteers undertake various tasks to maintain and imwove the park- in particJJlar the
walled garden and the copse wea.
All tr￿SleeS have had sight of the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit, to make
sure this is taken into account during deciston-rnaking.

Achievements and Performance
All Friends ol Gladstone pa￿ act1vl1l￿ have an underlying purpose of encouraging
people Into tho par* to enjoy and bonefii from this beauliful publlc space.
The Gardening Group continued to rnaintain the Walled Garden in Gladstone Park along
wilh the forrnal njse beds outside (nc1￿ refreshed vath the roses purthased by FOGP).
In addition to the Waled Garden. beds around the upper te￿ace adjacent to the Waled
Garden were maintainèd. as well as the beds around vth* was the bo¥%ling green.
FOGP continued to improve the dea(khedging around the copse area to help discA)urage
antFSOCAal actiNities there, and lo encourage ￿lIdnoWer areas and fems to enhance the
copse and inuease biodiversrty. The paths within the copse V￿re maintained with fresh
woodthip being laid.
During this year the Gardenlng Group also worked ￿ Brent Coun(al regarding the problem
V4ith the box hedge in the Walled Garden vms getbng ravaged by box moth and blight
The Counal approved replaang the box with Japanese Ilex and agreed to fund this.
Members of FOGP and the Gardening Group have been a￿1velY involved v4ith involved hmth
the Big City Butterflies project. run by Butterfiy Conservation. Wrth the help of a member of
their tearn, a sel route through the park la transect) was identified to cover dtfferent habitats
V*ithin the park. Volunteer5 continued to walk this transeca every week from Awril to
September, recording the butterflies seen as well a5 infomation aboul the v￿ather
conditions al the time. The observats'ons are uploaded to the UK Butterfy Monitoring
Stheme.

Financial Review
At the end of this period we have £3086.54 in the acccwnt, vthich is a mainty due to
continuing healthy donations from John Leviismaitrose ￿1th the addition Ihis year of
donations from George Irwin and CAF. As ever, VR also benefft from the generous users of
Gladstone Park drop donab'ons into our buc*eL Onty a smau amount remains ring-
fenced - for bluebells.
The tharity does not hold reserves as there are no regular outgoings over and above the
annual public liability insurance premium.

There were d￿atiOnS from Waitrose. Amazon Smile and EasyFundraising. We also had a
couple of unexpected donations from George Irwin ran a funfair in the park) and CAF.
And of course the income from general donations and money given during the various
events. This year we also joined Sumup to enable us to accept donations by card now fewer
people are Carr￿ng cash.

The Friends of Gladstone park is constituted as a CIO, governed by a govemed by
constitiution based on the Foundats'on Constitution d0￿ment wovided by Ihe Charities
Commission.

meeting of the current trustees,

## **Outgoings : £2,274.51** 

- Public Liability Insurance 

- Plants for the park. Mostly for the Walled Garden, but also for the beds we are beginning to refurbish outside the Stables cafe and in front of the toilet. 

- Manure for the Walled Garden (funded by Brent) 

- Costs of fixing outside taps in the Walled Garden and in the courtyard of The Stables cafe (used for water in the Walled Garden) (funded by Brent) 

## **Income : £4170.66** 

- Donations from Waitrose amounted to £1,600.00 

- Donations from Amazon Smile amounted to £88.16 

- Donations from EasyFundraising, amounted to £26.21 

- Donations vis SumUp amounted to £10.90 

- George Irwin regularly hosts a Funfair in the park and this year gave a donation of £500.00 to FOGP. 

- An unexpected donation from CAF of £630.00 

- The rest was down to  general donations in the bucket left out while the gardening group is working or given to us during organised Litter Picks or guided walks in the park.
