Chairman’s Report

The Covid pandemic has seen us have another very quiet year, with little opportunities to fund raise.

The trustees at present are: Eleanor Sapwell, Danielle Young and Maxime Marsh. The WhatsApp ‘committee’ at present are: Eleanor Sapwell, Danielle Young, Maxime Marsh, Georgie Donaghy, Jenny Letts, Julie-anne Newton, Lindsey McCaffrey and Jo Bull.

The wetpour surface around the slide was replaced in December by SERCO, the new surface is thankfully much less slippery.

We didn’t manage to get together for our Spring playground ‘spruce up’ but our very grateful thanks go to Ken Denoven for cutting back the shrubs and to Chris Letts for spraying the safety surfaces where algae had accumulated. Tristan Kipling also did a very speedy repair on a broken leg on of the picnic benches purchased by the Parish Council in the Summer, and Mark Russell has just replaced some screws on the handles of the climbing wall, thank you very much Tristan and Mark for doing these. Please could you all continue to let us know of any jobs that you spot need doing so we can continue to keep our playground in tip top condition.

Unfortunately, the opportunity to fund raise this year has been scarce, and therefore for the second year running there has been very little income into the playground funds. It is important that we keep some contingency funds in the bank for maintenance and repair, I

am hopeful that the fundraising opportunities will open up as covid restrictions lift further, but we may have to be slightly more creative with our ideas! Obviously, our future plans for the playground dictate how much we need to raise. So, is there anything else you would like to see at the playground?

Eleanor Sapwell

Matters Arising from Chairman’s Report

Future ideas for the playground included a log climbing frame, zip wire and trim trail. ES agreed to find out approximate prices so we knew how much would need to be raised if we decided in the future to go for one of the suggestions.

The swings and slide will need a coat of paint at some point over the next couple of years. MM is going to check for signs of flaking/rust.

The chairman’s reports was agreed by Danielle Young and seconded by Maxime Marsh

Treasurers Report

There was no income for the period 1[st] November, 2020 to the 31[st] October, 2021.

The only purchase for the year was the slide wetpour surface around the slide, the cost of this £1950 plus VAT. The Parish Council are hoping to claim the VAT back therefore the payment was made to them.

We are currently a registered charity, to remain as one we need to fundraise over £5000 a year. I think because of covid there is some leeway in this at the moment, however we do need to be aware and at some point in the future may need to consider if we remain as a charity.

Our total expenditure for the year is £1950. This leaves us with a current account balance as of 1[st] November, 2021 of £3019.19.

Any Other Business

MM mentioned that the picnic benches were sometimes being stood on and this was damaging them, she suggested that a sign may be needed to discourage their misuse.

There being no further business the meeting was drawn to a close.
