The year 2023/24 was an extremely challenging one for Downham Market Arts (DMA). Sadly, our Chair, Jaqueline Westrop, had been battling cancer since 2022.
Although this went into remission for a brief period, it returned in May 2023 and Jackie sadly succumbed to her illness on 17[th] February 2025.
Consequently, despite valiant efforts, DMA was only able to run one event during the accounting period.
INCOME
The income generated came from ticket fees for a performance of MR James’ “The Fenstanton Witch”. After December 2023 no income was received.
EXPENDITURE
The costs incurred by the charity comprised one performance fee and our public liability insurance renewal. These were fully met out of the cash balance held by the charity.
CASH
The charity has sufficient funding in hand to recommence activities once the remaining trustees have met to agree a programme for 2025 and to appoint another trustee.
FUTURE
Christine Lewis has taken over as interim Chair. The trustees are confident that we can maintain and grow upon the solid foundations established by Jackie Westrop and ensure Downham Market Arts remains a cultural asset for our town and its environs in west Norfolk.

Downham Market Arts is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation registration number 1180470, which was founded on the 29[th of] October 2018.
OBJECTIVES and AIMS.
Downham Market Arts Association was founded for the promotion of the arts for the public benefit in Downham market and the surrounding area, by organising and presenting a wide range of events to facilitate artistic activity; to include dance, drama, literature, music, and the visual arts.
ACHIEVMENT and PERFORMANCE
The Association provides a range of performances inclusive of dance storytelling and therapeutic arts.
STRUCTURE GOVERNANCE and MANAGEMNT

1.) The charity is governed by a CIO foundation document dated the 29[th of] October 2018.

2.) The governance of the charity as well as its day-to-day management is undertaken by then charity trustees.

All trustees were appointed on 28th October 2018 and remain in situ, apart from Jacqueline D Westrop, who died on 17[th] February 2025.
