The Trustees present their annual report together with the financial statements of Holme Valley
Lions Club Charitable Incorporated Organisation (the Charity) for the 12-month period ending 30th
June 2023. The Club was incorporated as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 25th October
2018. The Trustees confirm that the Annual Report and financial statements of the Charity
comply with the current ststutory requirements, the requirements of the Charity's governing
document and the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) "Accounting and
Reporting by Charities" issued in March 2015.
Structure Governance and Mana
ement
The Constitution stipulates thatthe minimum number of trustees shall be three and the
maximum ￿e1Ve. The President, Secretary and Treasurer are all mandatory trustees.
Any member taking up those posts must be trustee. The process for the appointment
of trustees is stipulated in the Constitution. A 'Trustees' meeting is held when required,
and in any case every two months. This meeting manages the governan￿ of the club
as set out under the Charrtable Incorporated Organisation Constitution.
The Charity's Insuran￿ requirements are covered under Lions Clubs International
Multiple District 105 insurance arrangements.

Objects
The Objects of the CIO are such purposes as are exclusively charf(able in England &
Wales, including in particular..
the advan￿ment of citizenship by.
promoting the principles of good citizenship;
encouraging members to take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social
and moral welfare of the community:

providing a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest-,
provided that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by
members,.
encouraging Serv[￿-mInded people to sep4e their community without personal
reward and encouraging the promotion of high ethical standards in commer￿,
industry. professions, public worf(s and private endeavours.,
supporting youth to develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable
them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals.,
promoting the Voluntary Sector for the public benefit by associating with local
authorities in a common effort to advance education and provide facilities in
the interests of social welfare for recreab'on or other leisure time occupation to
improve the condittons of lrfe of people in local, national and intemational
communities.,
promoting volunteering;
the relief of poverty and the relief of those in need in particular by providing
humanitarian aid and disaster relief.
the advancement of health or the saving of lives by preventing avoidable
blindness, assisting disabled people to lead independent lives or helping to
prevent or manage health issues.,
promoting for the beneftt of the public the conservation protection and
improvement of the physical and natural environment,. andlor
promoting community participation in healthy recreation.
The trustees confirm they have complied with the duty in section 4 of the Chartties Act
2006 to have due regard to the Charty Commission's general guidance on public
benefit 'Charities and Public Benefrt,. This year the CIO have continued to provide
public benefit, and we will explain how this has been achieved in this report.
The club operates one bank account and operates fund accounting. All the administration
expenses of the CIO are deatt with through the 'Administration Fund, the balance of which does
not include any money raised from members of the public. The trustees can confirm that the
CIO does not have any outstanding liabilities or debts.
The CIO has a grant making policy, all applications are considered by the trustees at
their meetings. The trustees then make recommendations which are considered by all
the members of the CIO. The procedure for this process is outlined within the
constitution.
Donations
In this 12-month period the club has had total income of £11,801.65
During the full year, the major income has come from the Santa Sleigh (£3070), and
the monthly draw (£470), an easter raffle (£2411), donations from the public at Honley
Show (£453) and two grants (Kirklees) (£2460).
The club donated £903 to Lions Clubs Internats'onal Charities during the full year.

The club have made other donations of £9252 in the full year including £2000 to
Kirkwood Hospi￿ (from raffle), £300 to Homestart, £2900 to local foodbanks (mainly
from grants received), £500 to 2 local scouts towards World Jamboree (both scouts
helped out on our fundraising activities) and £350 for a defibrillator locally. These
donations are making a differen￿ within our local community.
Membershi
Membership of the CIO at the end of June 2023 was 13 active members.
Members rn￿t On￿ per month and take part in the social and fundraising activtties
of the CIO.
During the year the club continued to work with others in their local community, not
only to support their communty but to encourage them to become members of
Holme Valley Lions Club.
The club have an active Facebook page promoting our activtties.

accounts in accordance wtth the requirements of the Charities Act 2011

under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I
have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission
