OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectlves and alm5
The purpose of Sheldonla Charltable Trust I'sheldonla C.T.'I Is set out In the Object clause of Its governlng
document dated September 2014: to advance such charltable purposes laccordlng to the laws of England &
Wales) as the trustees see fit from tlme to tlme.
Thls Object Is achleved by makin8 8rants In accordance wSth Sheldonla C.T.'s Grant Makin8 Pollcy dated
October 2018 whlch states that Sheldonla C.T, does not Intend to operate Its own charitable artlvltles, ro
provlde any charltable actlvltles of Its own. or to provlde dlrect grants to Indlvlduals or groups of Individuals
Irrespective of whether maklng such grants would accord with Sheldonla C.T.'5 Object. Rather, Sheldonia C.T.
wlll only provlde grants to charltles who are registered with the Charlty Commisslon of England & Wales, the
Charity Commisslon of Northern Ireland or the Office of the Scottlsh Charity Regulator. The trustees
subsequently clarlfled that In addbtlon grants may be rnade to charltle5 that have exempt status as speclfled
In Schedule 3 to the Charitles Act 2011 or whlch are made exempt by other le8islatlon, e.8. Foundatlon,
Voluntary and Academy Trust schools.
The Grant Maklng Policy further provides that trustees wlll conslder making grants to promote the following:
- Alleviation of poverty.
Provision of care and asslstance to the elderly* Inflrm and / or non-able-bodiÈd.
Undertaking of medlcal research to cure diseases and alleviate human sufferlng.
Educational institutions, including schools, and educational Initiatives.
- The practice and promotlon of Judaism among Jewish people for the beneflt of the publit in accordance
with the belief that observance of the Jewish rellglon and engagement in jewish communlty Ilfe promotes
ethlcal behaviour, enriches the lives of jews and contributes to the improvement of the world for all its
Inhabitants.

Countering antisemitism in all its guises.
Safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
Promotion of ethical behaviour in business.
The trustees confirm that they have had regard to the 8uidance Issued by the Charity Commlsslon on public
benefit.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
SiEnificant activlties
DurSn8 the year the trustee made grants from Sheldonia C.T. to charltles amounting to £64,98012024..
£81,389) in accordance with it5 Charltable Object and Grant Making Policy. An analysi5 of the activity of those
charitles Is provided in the Statement of Financlal Activities. All 8rants made were to registered or exempt
charities in the Unlted Klngdom and all grants were to the recipients, unre5trlcted funds.
The trustees continue to monltor the performance of Its investment managers, Cazenove, using approprlate
benchmarks for charltable funds, target returns and market Indices, relevant to the risk profile,

Durln8 the year. Sheldonla C.T. received net rental Income of £65,81212024- £46,765) from Its Portfollo of
Investment propertles In 8rl8hton whlch are managed uslng a local a8ent. The net rental yield after
associated fees was 17.2% based on the current valuatlon,
The trustee5 antlclpate that holdlng a mlx of Investment property and Ilsted Investment funds wlll generate a
hlgher return than avallable from cash deposlts. The trustees con51der thls w511 contribute to the ongolng
abllSty of 5heldonla C.T. to dSstrlbute funds to Brantee charities In accordance wlth its Grant Maklng Pollcy.
The trustees contlnue to pursue a policy of dlstrlbuting substantlally all of the Income ari51ng on its
investment assets by maklng grants to reciplent charities. The trustees currently adopt a conservatSve pollLy
In dlstrlbutln8 reallsed and ￿n￿alISed 8alns on the Ilsted Investment portfollo.
Financial posltlon
Sheldonla C.T. has properties held for rental Income whlch are valued at £382,41812024,' £382,418). As at 30
September 2024, Sheldonla C.T. held listed investment funds wlth a market value of £432,24712024,'
£395,247), bank deposit5 of £126,07612024: £I57,C￿l2) and a £50,00012024: Nlll two year Sterling
denominated forelgn government bond.
The trustees conslder the flnancial posltlon at the end of the perlod to be satlsfartory.
The trustees are not committed to maintainlng the level of reserves In all scenarios and would be prepared to
accept a diminutlon In rese￿e5 occasloned by making grants In excess of Income over annual perlods where
there was a perceived 5pecifSc benefit to recipient charities from doing so. However, the trustees currently
regard the main assets orlginally received from the estate of Mr Harris Sheldon to be long term re5erve5
somewhat akin to capltal and seek to maintaln the value of these for the present, althou6h fluctuations In
value can be expetted due to changes in the value of investments in marketable securltbes and Investment
pruperties.
Taking the property assets at acquisition value and Investment fund5 at market value together with bank
deposits. the total reserves at 30 September 2025 amount to £990,74112024: £934,667).

The charlty is controlled by it$ 8overning document, a deed of trust and constitutes an unincorporated
charity.
Recruitment and appointment of new trusteès
Trustees are selected based on their knowledge and experlence, Including professional experlence, of
financial matters, of good governance and of charitable affairs as well as an assessment of their integrlty.
New trustees are appointed by the current trustees as and when this is deemed approprlate.
The reglstered title to the propertles held for rental incomels In the Joint names of the three trustees who
hold the propertles on trust fDr the beneflt of the charity.

The tharity trustees are responsible for prepaTln8 a trustees, annual report and financlal statements in
accordance wlth applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards Iunlted Kingdom Generally
Accepted Accounting Practice).
The trustees are responslble for keeping proper accountin8 record5 that dlsclose wlth reasonable accuracy at
ny tlme the flnanclal posltlon of the charlty and to enable them to ensure that the flnancial statements
comply wlth the Charitles Act 2011, the appllcable Charitles (Accounts and Reports) Re8ulatlon5, and the
provlslons of the Trust deed. The Trustees are also respon51ble for safeguardlng the assets of the charlty and
hence takSng reasonable steps for the preventlon and detectlon of fraud and other iTreBularltles.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of Sheldonia Charitable Trust for the
vear ended 30 September 2025.
Responsibilltles and basis of report
As the charity's trustee5 you are responsible for the preparatlon of the financlal statements in accordance
wlth the requirements of the Charbties Act 20111'the Act'l.
I report in respect of my examinatlon of the charlty's flnancial statements carried out under section 145 of
the 2011 Act and in carrylng out my ex?minatlon I have followed all the applitable Directlons given by the
Charity Commlssion under sectlon 1451511bl of the Act.
Independent examlner's statement
I have completed my examination. I can confirm that no material matter5 have come to my attentlon In
connectlon with the examlnatlon giving me cause to believe that In any materlal respect:
the accountlng records were not kept in respect of the charlty a5 requlred by sectlon 130 of the Act,. or
the flnoncial statements do not accord wlth those records; or
the flnanclal statements do not comply with the applicable requlremÈnts concernlng the form and
content of financial statements set out In the Charltles (Accounts and Reports) Regulatlons 2008 other
than any requlrement that the fSnanclal statement$ glve a 'true and falr, vlew which Is not a matter

The financlol statements have been prepared In accordance WTth Statement of Recommended Practice:
Accounting and Reportin8 by Charlties preparlng their accounts in accordance with the Financlal
ReportinE Standard appllcable in the UK and Republic if Ireland IFRS 1021 Issued on 16 Ju5y 2014 and the
Financial Reportlng Standard appllcable In the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 and the
Charities Act 2011.
