For the public benefit to relieve the needs of elderly people residing in Surrey and the Summary of surrounding area in such ways and by such means deemed charitable within the laws of the objects of England and Wales, and in particular but not exclusively by providing therapies, activities, the charity advice and information designed to promote better physical and mental health and well set out in its being. governing document
Brighter Living continues to operate in accordance with the Charity Commission’s guidance on the responsible delivery of charitable services. The charity was established by people with a strong interest in supporting the health and wellbeing of older adults, together with Qi Gong professionals who had seen first-hand the positive impact that regular sessions could have within a local community centre. This experience inspired the charity to make these activities available to a wider community. Our aim is to empower people aged 60 and over to take an active role in supporting their own health and wellbeing through practical, accessible and enjoyable activities. Brighter Living provides Qi Gong sessions incorporating gentle movement, stretching, breathing exercises, mindfulness and meditation. Brain exercises inspired by Ilchi Lee’s Brain Education System are also included, helping to stimulate both the body and mind in an engaging and supportive environment.

Over the past year, Brighter Living has continued to provide Qi Gong, Armchair Yoga, meditation and breathing exercise sessions for people within the local community. We have also worked with Chessington Sports Centre and New Era to help deliver Qi Gong services in Chessington. It has been a challenging year in many ways, but through the commitment of our trustees, volunteers and supporters, we have been able to continue offering these valuable services. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped make this possible.

We are especially grateful to the Kingston Charitable Foundation for their generous grant, which provided important support in helping us continue our work. We would also like to thank Groundwork UK for their grant funding, which enabled us to extend our activities and reach more people locally. The project supported by Groundwork UK was particularly successful, attracting more participants than we had originally anticipated and demonstrating a strong local demand for accessible wellbeing activities for older people. A sincere thank you also goes to all the volunteers who have supported our activities and assisted our service providers with such care, enthusiasm and commitment.
Finally, we would like to thank all of our beneficiaries for attending the sessions, sharing their experiences and continuing to support the work of Brighter Living. The positive feedback we receive reminds us that, although our charity may be small, the work we are doing can make a meaningful difference to the health, wellbeing and social connection of the older people we support.

Brighter Living’s main objective during the year has been to extend Summary of the main the services offered by the charity to more older people across achievements of the charity during the year Surrey and the surrounding areas. Through our Qi Gong and wellbeing activities, we aim to help older people maintain and improve their flexibility, mobility and confidence, while also supporting a more positive sense of mental and emotional wellbeing. This has been a difficult year for the charity, and we have not been able to expand our services as widely as we had hoped. Limited funding and resources continue to make it challenging for a small charity such as Brighter Living to develop new services and reach more beneficiaries. Nevertheless, with the support of our trustees, volunteers, grant funders and local organisations, we have continued to move the charity forward. During the year, we have worked with Chessington Sports Centre and New Era to deliver Qi Gong services within the Chessington community. Funding from Kingston Charitable Foundation and Groundwork UK has been extremely important in enabling us to continue this work. The activities supported by the Groundwork UK grant were particularly encouraging, attracting more participants than we had originally anticipated and showing us that there is a genuine demand for accessible Qi Gong and wellbeing activities within the local area. Although our progress has been slower than we would have wished, the response from participants has given us encouragement to continue. Seeing older people attend regularly, engage with the exercises and experience the benefits of gentle movement, breathing, mindfulness and social connection reminds us why this work is important. Our challenge now is to secure sufficient funding and support to make these services sustainable and to reach more people. One of our future goals is to develop a mentorship and instructor training scheme so that more trained Qi Gong instructors can deliver sessions within elderly community centres and other local settings. We believe this could provide a sustainable way for Brighter Living to gradually increase its impact while continuing to provide safe, accessible and supportive activities for older people.
