## **Report of The Trustees**

The Trustees present their Report and Accounts for the Year Ended 30 June 2023.

The Accounts have been prepared in accordance with the Accounting Policies set out in Note 1 to the Accounts and comply with the Club's Governing Document, the Charities Act 2011 and the Statement of Recommended Practice, "Accounting and Reporting by Charities", issued in March 2005.

## **Structure, Governance and Management**

The Club is a member of the International Association of Lions Clubs and was established as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (010) on 17 October 2018. Its activities commenced on 23 October 2018 when the Lions Club of Salisbury and District ceased operating. On 23 October 2018 an order to authorise the transfer of assets and liabilities and the giving of an indemnity under section 105 of the Charities Act 2011 was issued by the Charity Commission for England and Wales enabling the Trustees to transfer the funds of Salisbury and District Lions Club to the new Salisbury and District Lions Club (CIO) No 1180342.

All of the Trustees provide their services free of charge.

None of the Trustees had a material interest in any contract to which the Club was a party during the Year.

The Club is affiliated to Lions Club International, a global organisation of Volunteers dedicated to the highest standards of Community and Humanitarian Service. The Club exists for fellowship and to help those in need in Local. National and International Communities through both Fund Raising and direct involvement.

The Club is not politically aligned.

The Club comprises Volunteers who pay an Annual Subscription. It is managed by a Board of Directors who are elected annually by and from the Membership.

The President and Treasurer oversee the day to day running of the Club on behalf of the

Trustees. The Trustees meet at least three times a year.

The Trustees have assessed the major risks to which the Club is exposed, and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.

## **Objectives and Activities**

The Club's Objectives are to raise Income and receive Grants and Donations to fund disbursements to relieve poverty and sickness, preserve and protect good health and advance Education.

The Trustees have paid due regard to guidance by The Charity Commission in deciding what Activities the Club should undertake.

## Financial Review

The detailed financial position of the Club is shown in the Financial Statements. The Trustees consider the finances of the Club to be satisfactory.

The Club operates three main Bank Accounts. The Activities Account is the main account for the receipts from fund-raising Activities and the payment of directly related expenses. The Charity Account is used to receive direct donations and transfers of surpluses arising in the Activities Account from time to time. The Charity Account is used solely to fund Charitable Donations being made - as authorised by the Club Members in general meeting. The Administration Account is used for the receipt of Membership Subscriptions and payment of Expenses associated with the running of the Club itself. The use of the separate Club Administration Account means that all monies raised through Activities can be used directly for the good causes the Club wishes to support.

## **Investment Powers and Reserves Policy**

The Club has power to leave any monies on Deposit in a Bank Account which the Trustees consider it appropriate so to deposit.

The Club will carry forward the existing surpluses into the 2023-2024 Financial Year.

## **The Club's performance during the year**

The Club received regular undesignated donations from it's supporters.

These funds were used by the Club in making Donations towards local charitable causes, contributions made in support of appeals managed through. Lions District. National and International causes.

Our main charitable activities this year was the collection and distribution of food to families in need, and will continue into the following years as long as the need is there. This included purchasing a microwave for a man in need, also supported a young girl with an assistance dog. We supported Poppy Appeal, other appeals including Youth Trust, Brain Tumour, Turkish Earthquake Appeal, Lions Sight Savers Trust and Ukraine. Donation made to My Cancer, My Choice appeal. The 6 fruit trees previously planted in the garden of a Care Home to celebrate The Queen's Jubilee are healthy.

The Trustees wish to record their sincere thanks to everyone who has organised, helped or supported us in this effort.

By order of the Trustees

Lion President Jeremy Tidswell
