Treasurer’s Report for the Year Ending 31[st] October 2020
Our income streams came to an abrupt end when Covid19 struck the world, luckily we did manage to hold a few events in the 4 months before this happened.
We luckily were recipients of the Government small business grants and this enabled us to keep our shop afloat allowing us to open during the various lock-downs. I must also give a huge thanks to the Rotary Club of Bretby and Gresley Rovers FC supporters who donated funds to enable us to provide refreshments to the Wards and departments this money is still being used and the staff have been very appreciative.
Purchasing of equipment has still gone ahead, albeit with a few hiccups, the main equipment being an see Eyes Scan for Audiology for £9527.50, staff room furniture for Endoscopy for £3460.80, and the Hydroflex Chairs for ward 8 at a cost of £8882.40, the money for these being raised by the 3 intrepid walkers known as 45 degrees. Once again 35 wards and departments received a total of £1133.39 for Christmas festivities.
A grand total of £32,153.44
I would like to thank all our volunteers and regular supporters who have made this possible, those volunteers able to work during the short times we were open and the supporters who continued to donate and spend. Thanks also must go to our auditor Karen King who performed the audit whilst working from home, she has offered her continued support.

Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Burton Hospitals League of Friends and Phoenix Hospital Radio
I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31 October 2020 which are set out on pages 1 to 5
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the 1993 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 43 of the 1993 Act;
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 43(7)(b) of the 1993 Act; and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the 1993 Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 1993 Act
have not been met or
(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
