Governance, Structure and Management
Governing Document
The Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation known as Neville Community Centre. It is governed by a Constitution dated 16[th] October 2018 with an amendment dated 8[th] August 2025.
Organisational Structure
The charity trustees are responsible for the general control and management of the charity. The trustees give their time freely and receive no remuneration or other financial benefits.
There must be a minimum of three trustees and a maximum of twelve. The day to day running of Neville Community Centre is controlled by the Trustees with the help of any volunteer staff.
Recruitment and appointment of trustees
The existing trustees are responsible for the appointment of new trustees but in so doing they seek the views and recommendation of others. In selecting new trustees, we seek to identify people who regularly attend events and functions organised by the charity and are willing to volunteer to help in the broader community.
Our Trustee / Secretary, Brian Lovell, announced during the year that he will be resigning as a Trustee and the Secretary role as of 31st December 2025 due to moving out of the area. The new Trustee Michelle Acuna Ocana appointed 4[th] November will take on the role of Secretary with effect from 1[st] January 2026. Brian Lovell will give voluntary support to the Secretary until he moves south.
Hazel Joan Anne Kennedy was appointed a Trustee on the 2[nd] December 2025.
Premises
The property was registered in its own name, Neville Community Centre (CIO Registration Number 1180323) at the Land Registry on the 23[rd] September 2019. The Land Certificate (DU 193007) is held by Close Thornton, Solicitors, (part of Milners Law Group) formerly of Duke Street, now 31 Houndgate, Darlington, County Durham, DL1 5RH.
Following the building of new store room extension and installing new shelving in 2024 our three store rooms have been reorganised and users advised of their allocated space.
During the year plans were discussed to have brick built raised flower beds on the front lawn area and make provision for an illuminated Christmas tree. Work was completed by December with a new seat to be installed in 2026.
An exterior floodlight was installed above the front fire exit door and a new security camera installed covering the front lawned area.
Actvites
The Centre has been successfully hired during the year and a variety of activities have taken place including Pilates, Tai Chi, Heelwork dog training, line dancing, keep fit, Quilt/Sewing group, craft fayres, Deaf Support Group, Little movers – Toddlers group. In addition, the Centre is hired on a regular basis for Children’s parties and other family gatherings.
The Friday morning café has been a successful meeting venue averaging 57 people attending each Friday morning and has made a substantial £3547.25 net contribution to the running costs of the Centre.
The activities ended with a visit from the Great Aycliffe Town Council organised Santa Claus tour making a stop at the Centre on Christmas Eve; where hot drinks and toilet facilities were made available.
We thank everyone who supported all the activities during the year and we are grateful for the help given to the Centre by all our volunteers, especially Jane Ward, Susan Mouyiassi, Eddie McDonald, Stanley Wise, Alan Coulson and Daniel Pitt who were each given a small gift in appreciation of their help during the year.
Finance
On the 1[st ] January 2025 the current account bank balance was £4697.44 with a reserve account of £32933.11, cash in hand of £31.40 and a café float of £45.40, total £37707.35. By the year end 31st December 2025 funds in hand totalled £37167.78.
Finances are being controlled and carefully monitored.
