## **57:** fourteen restoring : supporting : enabling ## Trustees Annual Report 2025 57:fourteen is a registered charity supporting those in the criminal justice system. It was formed in 2010 from a group of volunteers who assisted the Chaplain at HMP Risley in delivering the Alpha course for the previous six years. The objects of the charity are: - As a Christian organisation, to assist those of any or no faith at risk of becoming involved in or already within the Criminal Justice System to a full and permanent rehabilitation by means of faith-based education and training, together with the support of and mentoring within local faith-based communities. - To ensure best practice, particularly regarding safeguarding issues, in supporting those returning from the Criminal Justice System by maximising the proper use of available resources to local faith-based communities. During the past year the Board has held three meetings at St James Church, Westhead. Contacts with prisons and churches have progressed and new opportunities continue to be explored with churches throughout the Diocese of Liverpool. Meetings have been held at HMP Liverpool and Altcourse and it is hoped to establish our presence there. The proposed partnership with Junction 42, a similar charity based in Newcastle, continues to develop, where our church links can dovetail with their prison links. Our Policies and Procedures are continually updated, and liaison with Liverpool Diocese’s Safeguarding Officer continues. 57:fourteen became an affiliate member of the Welcome Directory, which will assist linking with ex-offenders, prisons and other organisations similar to ourselves. Regarding the WO Street restricted fund, in the grant application and covering letter, the funding was required for: “Deliver courses in Prison – Mentor/Pastorally Care in line with other relevant organisations in the Community. To ensure best practice, particularly with regard to safeguarding issues, in supporting those returning from the Criminal Justice System by maximising the proper use of available resources to local faith-based communities.” The response noted: “This grant (the Grant) is made in support of the project as outlined in detail in your grant application to the Foundation (working with offenders, ex-offenders and those at risk of offending in Lancashire)”. It was agreed to investigate updating our website and possibly rebranding the charity.
