EXMOUTH CERAMIC GROUP

REPORT OF TRUSTEES

TO THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 30[th] April 2024

The Trustees elected at the 2023 AGM were Norma Gillson, Clare Medlock, Douglas Middleton, Jane Moffatt, Sally Atherton, Jackie Thomas and Tony Steiner. Tony Steiner was elected Chair at the first meeting and Sally Atherton took on the role of Secretary. The Trustees have met 4 times during the year , and have communicated regularly by email. Loraine Storie attended meetings in her capacity as Hon Treasurer and we are extremely grateful for her expertise. Regrettably Sally Atherton is stepping down as a Trustee at this AGM. Our thanks go to Sally for all that she has done for the Group and we will be sending her some flowers to recognise her contribution. This leaves a vacancy for a new Trustee and a Secretary.

The last twelve months has been one of consolidation and allowing the changes made in the previous years to take effect. I have to say it was all going so well until the email from Devon County Council arrived with the news that they wished us to relocate the Pottery. At the time of writing the Trustees are still dealing with the terms of the new arrangements. Whilst we would all prefer not to move, DCC are being extremely helpful and we regard this as an opportunity to secure the future for the group.

The Trustees continue to work well with the Management Committee and we are extremely appreciative for the time and effort that they put into the smooth day to day operation of the Pottery.

Whilst our finances remain strong, your Management Committee continues to monitor costs against income and is working with us to ensure that we can meet our liabilities when we leave Meeting Street.

We will shortly enter a new chapter, albeit déjà vu for some, but it is one that we can look forward to with confidence.

Tony Steiner
