Flnanclal revlew
The total liquid funds 8V8iL8ble to the Are8 Meeting r8m8in stable, at about £371.000:
held between Area Meeting. and rts Local Meetings. The trustees consider this to be
sufficlentto meet the anticipated demands of the Are8 Meetin& which includes the
upkeèp ofthree Mature Meeting Houses. Each localmeeting has its own ireasurer. the
Ioc81 meotingaccounts being consolidated each yearwithin ihose ofth8 Area Meeting.
The three Meeting Houses are not shown as a fixed asset in the accounts. 8s they are

functional properties and there is no intentlon to sell them. Buildings are Insured for
£3,345,000 in total.
Additionally, the Area Meeting own8 two investrnent properties. Both are currontly
leased to Northampton Domestic Abuse Service as refuge house5 and are in3uredfor
£490,000 in totaL The income from rents is Used forgeneral purposes.
It should be noted that 8lthough iabelled as investment properties. the provislon of
th8setwo Refugg Houses is undertaken primarily a8 a me8n8 of providing8 80Ci8IIy
Sustainable use for Capitsl Assets of the Ar80 Meeting and 18 not Managed on profit
maximisation principle8.
The rènt of thè inv88tmgnt properties provides some income, but the majority of income
within the Area Meeting come from the contributions of members and attenders. and
from the hiring of the Meeting Houses to other groups. Matching expenditure and
Income rem8lned challenging in a time of high inftation and fairly static income streams,
butthe Area Meeting Cash Flow as a whole was able to grow by about £9,000 in 2024.
Hiring revenu88 remain below pre-pandemi¢ level8. but are slowly recovering. Member
contributions remain broadly flat. Offset again8t this is th8 impact of rising inflation,
which puts pressure8 on costs. ReseNes remain at a comfortable levelfor now, with
i)verall Gash flow3 positive in 2024. However. inGome and expenditure will need to be
carefully managed to prevent an entrenched structural deficit from developlng.
The three Meetlng Houses 8re of an age that require ongoin& substantial renovation to
ensure their proper upkeep.
The comblnation of subst8ntial cash and investment assets and reguiarcontribution
income provide strong ri8k protection againstvariable hiring income and ongoing
upkeep cost8 of malntalnlnglls 3 Meetlng Houses. The long-term viability of The Area
Meetlng ultlmately rests on malntalnlng fts membershlp at a vlable level In the decades
and conturies to come, as existing local meetings grow or dects'ne, and new local
meetings arise.
The Funds of the Area Meeting and tts constituent Local Meeting8 are not cumuLatively al
current risk of running into deficit. The option and facility exist to transfer funds from one
fund to anotherwithin the Area Meetlngwhere required. Ultimatelythe contribution3 Of
