Annual Report of the Trustees for the year ending 5[th] April 2023
The Trustees of the Acts of Hope Charity present their annual report for the period from 6[th] April 2022 to 5[th] April 2023, which has been prepared in accordance with the accounting and reporting statements of recommended practice issued by the Charity Commission.
Acts of Hope is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation [CIO] under Charity no. 1180130
Trustees
During the period the following individuals have served as Trustees:
Rob Hayter - Treasurer
Sonya Timms - Chair of Trustees
Lester Porter resigned as Chair on 26 January 2023.
Public Benefit
The Trustees confirm that the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit has been considered in relation to the objectives of the Charity. The report below sets out those objectives and describes how they have been met in the period covered by this report.
CIO Objects
The charitable objectives, as set out in the CIO's Constitution, are:

For the public benefit, the advancement of education and the relief of poverty in such parts of the world as the trustees shall from time to time determine.

And in particular but not exclusively by providing grants of financial assistance and operational support to support the charitable work of the Acts of Hope School in Kasavanahalli, Bangalore, India.
Aims
In order to achieve these objectives the Trustees agreed the following aims during the period under review:

To continue to provide financial support to Acts of Hope School

To maintain and steward monthly donors for the Charity
Activities during the period of this report
Due to the lack of employed staff there has been no active fundraising in the UK during the year although some funds continue to be received through long-standing monthly donation arrangements with existing donors. Acts of Hope School in Kasavanahalli is performing well and has recovered from Covid restrictions that were in place for most of the previous year.
In response to requests from the School for support, the UK Charity transferred funding of £20,286 during the year to cover: Books, Uniforms and Shoes, Insurance renewal and Fitness Certification for two school buses. This includes Higher Education Support that was provided from the restricted funds.
Organisational Structure
The Trustees acting as the Board meet regularly and are responsible for:

The charity had no employed staff during the period under review; however, one of the Trustees acted as Treasurer on a voluntary basis.
Financial Review
Acts of Hope receives income and support from the following sources; private individuals and churches.
During the period under review, no fundraising activities were carried out in the UK. The charity received donations totalling £5356 comprised of existing standing orders and direct debits from donors, plus a small number of single donations.
Expenses were kept at a minimum, resulting in payments of £874 relating to insurance, international transfer fees and bank charges.
Trustees were pleased to send funds totalling £20,286 to the Acts of Hope school in Kasavanahalli to help purchase books, uniforms and shoes; to pay for insurance renewal and fitness certification for two school buses; to support secondary and tertiary education.
The performance of the Charity was adequate to enable the Charity to meet its aims and objectives to provide financial assistance and operational support to support the charitable work of the Acts of Hope School in Kasavanahalli, Bangalore, India.
