Activities during the period of this report

Due to the ongoing pandemic, there has been no active fundraising in the UK during the year although some funds have been received through direct debit arrangements with existing donors, and no significant progress in achieving the Aims for strategy and business leadership. The pandemic in India has continued to be incredibly challenging for the Acts of Hope School in Kasavanahali with Covid restrictions in place for most of the year. Where restrictions allowed the staff have successfully delivered classes at the school. As the children attending the school live in disadvantaged communities, remote learning has been difficult as few children have access to laptops. The school finally reopened fully from June 2021.

In response to an urgent request from the School for support, the UK Charity transferred funding of £11,000 to the Indian AOH Charity during the year to cover: Books and Uniforms £2,000, Bus Repair and Servicing £2,500, Staff Wages for one month £4500, In addition £2,000 Higher Education Support was provided from the ‘Restricted Funds’.

Organisational Structure

The Trustees acting as the Board meet regularly and are responsible for:

The charity had no employed staff during the period under review; however, one of the Trustees acted as Treasurer on a voluntary basis.

Financial Review

Acts of Hope receives income and support from the following source; private individuals, corporations, schools and churches, and grant making organisations.

During the period under review, no fundraising activities were carried out in the UK. The charity received donations totalling £7677 comprised of existing standing orders and direct debits from donors, plus a small number of single donations.

Expenses were kept at a minimum, resulting in payments of £472 relating to insurance and bank charges.

Trustees were pleased to send funds totalling £11,000 to the Acts of Hope school in Kasavanahalli to help purchase books and uniforms; to repair the school bus; to support secondary and tertiary education.

Overall a loss of £3,705 was made during the period. The performance of the Charity was adequate to enable the Charity to meet its aims and objectives to provide financial assistance and operational support to support the charitable work of the Acts of Hope School in Kasavanahalli, Bangalore, India.
