The skills and experlence requlred by the Trustee Board is regularly reviewed and, where gaps are Sdentlfied, new trustees with the fequislte skills and knowledge are artively sought. All new trustees receive a personalised induttion, which includes meetin8S Wlth existin8 trustees. They receive copies of key documents and updates on their role5 and responsibilities as required. The trustees have dele8ated the majority of the day-to-day runnin8 of the charity to Lily Nwamaraihe. Artlvltles and objertlves In the year The objectives of the charity are the advancement and relief of poverty for girls and local communities living in rural Africa via education, in particular but not exclusively by- buildlng schools in rural Africa. implementin8 functional literacy programmes in local communities, teaching girls a trade in schools in order to support self-reliance, educ3ting girls in sexual health and family planning,. and providin8 continuous professional development training for all teaching staff by creating partnerships with teachers and schools in the UK and Africa. The objectives for the year were to continue the work of the charity by donations to a sister charitable or8anlSation in Nigeria through whith locally based employees could be recruited. Achievements and perfomance Due to the impart of the COVID-19 epidemic. the charity was unable to operate either in Ni8eria or the UK during the year covered by this report. Publlc beneflt In setting our artbvities and objectives the year we have regard to both the Charity Commission's 8eneral guidance on public benefit and prevention and relief of poverty for the public beneflt. The trustees always ensure that the pro8ramme5 we undertake are in Ilne wlth our charltable objerts and aims.
