**Nunburnholme Jubilee Committee**

## **Chair’s Report from 1[st] November 2024 to 31[st] October 2025**

## **Meetings held in 2025:**

20th March 30th June 14[th] July 4th August 8th September 20th October

## **Introduction:**

As a small community group of volunteers, the Jubilee Committee has enjoyed another successful year.. The fund raising events were well attended and enjoyed by the community. Yet again through the generosity of a £250 donation from Nunburnholme with Kilnwick Percy Parish Council and some innovative fundraising the Jubilee Committee has managed to organise some exceptional events this year, and continue to contribute significantly towards the maintenance of the church and the village amenities.

## **Christmas Wreath Workshop**

Following what has become a tradition, our workshop was held on a sunny Saturday in mid December in the delightful farmhouse kitchen at Hessey Farm. Our host, Caroline, served mulled wine and homemade mince pies, which were made with melt in the mouth pastry!

A large group of 15 adults and children creatively made wonderful Christmas wreaths from greenery gathered in the village, Judy provided trinkets, which were mostly made from natural materials and then painted, to add colour and texture.

All in all a very successful event, a big thank you must go to Caroline and Mike as the hosts, also to Judy who is the key organiser making the workshop an enjoyable and rewarding event! The Jubilee Committee raised a grand total of £300, brilliant!

## **Do It For East Yorkshire (DIFEY) Grant**

Good news! Nunburnholme Jubilee Committee has been awarded a DIFEY Grant of £5,000 to create a large space at the back of the church by re-ordering the inside in the nave and bell tower. The new space will allow the village community to organise social events such as the provision of refreshments, stalls for sales, games and other new and interesting activities. The extra space will improve the provision at many of the events we already hold in church; it will also allow the Jubilee Committee, the PCC and the PC to organise new activities which would use the extra space. The work is expected to be started in April/May time.

## **Celebrating our new community space in church**

The Jubilee Committee organised cream teas, various stalls, a children’s tombola and a table top sale of bric-a-brac on the third Saturday in July and it rained heavily!

However, the rain didn’t matter because we were inside our church trying out our new community area which was decked with bunting, tables and chairs, making it look very welcoming. We had more than 60 visitors over the afternoon and received lots of very positive feedback.

All in all we raised an amazing £343.40 which will go towards maintaining our very tidy churchyard, thanks to Lawrie who is keeping it looking neat after the recent drainage work had been completed.

Also, many thanks to all who helped and contributed in anyway, and to everyone who attended the event to make it a tremendous success!

## **Chatty Crafters Club**

A large group of friends and villagers gathered for our monthly meeting in church. We benefited from the new space created by moving the Nunburnholme Cross and font.

Now we can easily fit two large tables in the bell tower and everyone can see each other!

## **Church repairs and maintenance:**

During the year the Jubilee Committee paid for the church Copyright Licence and the emptying and maintenance of the Portable Toilet.

The JC also paid for the annual programme of grass and hedge cutting which was carried out in the churchyard during the spring and summer months.

## **The Bramble Bakers’ Stall**

Many thanks must go to Hetty and Lexie, also known as The Bramble Bakers, for raising £58 for the church at a stall they held by the bus shelter/book stop recently.

We have some very talented young people in Nunburnholme.

## **Quiz Night**

The Jubilee Committee were delighted to see friends with families attend our first Quiz Night in August. Neil kindly organised the questions some of which were challenging!

Paul, as usual, set up and the bar with local beer from Snaith Brewery which was popular, and Judy organised the raffle.

All in all it was an enjoyable evening making the best use of our newly created community area, as well as the rest of our church. People commented on how much they enjoy our beautiful church as a venue for a range of activities as well as for worship.

The Jubilee Committee raised £122 to go towards maintaining the churchyard and village facilities. Many thanks to all who contributed, and/or supported this event, it is very much appreciated.

## **Children’s Clay Day**

Judy and Ann, on behalf of the Jubilee Committee, held a day over the autumn half term for children from the village aged between 8 and 12 years old. They were shown by Judy how to make a duck and a frog out of clay. The results were a waddle of ducks and an army of frogs!

The day was a tremendous success and everyone, including the adults, had an enjoyable time producing some delightful ducks and frogs.

A big thank you must go to Alison for hosting the group and to Judy for kindly organising the event which included providing the clay and all the equipment needed for the workshop.

## **100 Club**

The Jubilee Committee continues to run the monthly Church 100 Club Draws. The funding for the 100 Club is in a separate JC account and is audited each year.
