## **Nunburnholme Jubilee Committee Chair’s Report for AGM 2nd December 2021** 

The Jubilee Committee, which is a CIO, has successfully operated a voluntary group in our tiny village for almost 20 years, and continues to progress in maintaining a community ethos even during the pandemic. 

This year has been our second most challenging year for our committee since its formation in 2002.  The support we have received from our village and wider community is second to none. 

We have managed to raise funds through adapting the Christmas Wreath Workshop and running a tombola and raffle at the Picnic in the Paddock, also we have been given generous donations from individuals and the Parish Council.

## **Nunburnholme with Kilnwick Percy Parish Council Donation** 

Ann Hill attended a Zoom PC meeting on 05.11.20 to ask for financial support. Each year the JC raises money to pay for grass and hedge cutting and maintenance work at the church. Fundraising over the last 18 months has been difficult, so the JC decided to ask the PC for help with the maintenance costs of the church.  The PC gave £1000 to assist with costs, particularly as the church is the only community building in the village. 

## **Christmas Wreath Workshop** 

This year it was agreed for a team of wreath makers to work from home making the wreaths Many thanks to Judy for providing all the materials needed in order for this to take place, plus our team who provided the greenery and created the most wonderful natural wreaths. All in all another great effort which raised £520 for the church and our community. 

## **Christmas Draw 2020 raised £465** 

Many thanks to everyone who bought and sold tickets, and generously donated prizes. 

## **'Book Stop'** 

This continues to be thriving, and it encourages the pleasure of reading.  There is a range of reading materials to choose from during lockdowns . Needless to say social distancing rules were adhered to at all times; people have generously donated books and games for all ages plus plants, rhubarb and DVDs. 

Many thanks to all who have contributed, the Book Stop is also a great focus for the daily exercise session. 

## **Church maintenance** 

The Jubilee Committee continues to pay for work needed for the church, this year it included payment for replacing heater elements and mending the outdoor lights costing £186.96, grass cutting fees during the spring and summer months and the emptying of the portable toilet which cost £48. 



**Saturday 14th August at 1pm  ‘Picnic in the Paddock’** we had live music from Shiftipig, a Tombola stall, a Raffle and children’s games; everyone brought a picnic, something to sit on and a little money! 

A big thank must go to Mike and Caroline for generously allowing us to use their delightful donkey paddock, which they had meticulously prepared, and the use of their marvellous marquee! 

Much appreciation goes to our superb Folk Band ‘Shiftipig’ who provided musical entertainment for us all afternoon. 

Also thanks to Judy and Neil who planned, prepared, organised and ran the Tombola, raising the magnificent sum of £200 and last, but not least, Paul for running the raffle, with donated prizes, which raised an amazing £157.91!  The money raised will be used by the Jubilee Committee to assist with the maintenance of our church. 

Fantastic results, and a lovely afternoon socialising with our friends and fellow villagers. 

## **Charity Event at 1 Brattwood Cottages** 

Thank you to everybody who came and bought Hetty’s crafts and cakes in August. The children made some lovely unicorns too and so nice to see them all playing together in the garden.  We really appreciate people giving up their bank holiday to come to Hetty, Hooty's and Winston's charity event. 

We raised £161.00 which will be split between Nunburnholme Church and Make a Wish charities. 

## **Churchyard Tidy** 

On a warm dry Saturday in late September a group of villagers spent a good hour cutting the ‘wild area’ under the yew trees, pulling weeds and generally tidying up the churchyard. Many thanks to the volunteers, a little bit of help……….
