In 2018 the trustees of Fleet Carrys Tnjst 5￿CessfUllY applled to the Charfty Comml551on for England and
Wales for the regtstratlon of a Charltable Inttsrtx)rated Organlsatlon (CIO) to take reSp￿nSIbIlItY lor the
actlvSlles of Ll)e ITUSL Iii fuluie, afid io tral￿fer Uje assets of trusi iu it￿. Clo foi th<1l wi"wse. Tlie
CIO was regtstered and establlshed on 24 September 2018.
The CIO took re5wnslblllty for the operatkns and actfvltles of Fi￿t Camps as from 1 January 2019 arKI
the assets of Fleet Camps Trwst were transferred ￿ the CIO as from that date.
TRLISI'EES
The CIO has kept Its comp051tlon under reAÉw and seeks to antidpate Ilkely retlrements arKI the need
for replacements. It Is actfvely s&ing to add one or two trijstees, that total number has fallen
to flve. New trustees are Ltsually drawn from those alreaty famlllar the camps work through
partlcipatlon In it and preferably through mffnbership of Camps Leadershlp Team, whlch Is a
commlttee of the CIO. They are therefore alrea(ty lamlllar with the worft of the camps In a practlcal

Up to 2019 Incluslve, CIO'5 maln artlvlties were to organlse three week-long camps for chlldren and
young people at Fleet Hou* Fam), Fleet, Weynb)uth In July and August. HOw￿er. because of the
COVID.19 pandemic beglnnlng In February 2020, the trustees and camps leadetshlp team concluded In
May 2020 that It would not be feaslbie to hold any camp5 in summer 2020. Thls was because of the
nature of the camps whkh entall chlldren arKI Leaders Ilvlng u￿r canvas In close proxlmltyj glvlng much
élas yel dvailable and
malntenance of x(lal dISta￿n% and contact 'bubbies' was tossSble. Instead efforts were made to
hold vtrtual 'camps' online in 2020, efforts whkh were easier and MO￿ effecttve wlth YO￿￿g people than
chlldren. Income and e¥penthtu￿ in 2020 I￿re m￿h redLKed, compared to ￿ norm.
Becaw of the contlnulng pandemic in 2021, the tntstees and leaders concluded that, notwithstandlng
the open.air characler of the camp5, 11 was ￿){1 nol possible to hold full resi(kJfilial camps, among other
thlngs because vaccFnation programff*s by the Ajmmer of 2021 had not penetrated to most young people
and chlldren. Accordingly* It Wa5 dedikd to hold a week-long day camp for children In the Weyrnouth
and Dorchester areas (rather than camps for chllthen fr(#n across Erpliand aThJ Wales, as is nonnall.

are in hand at the tlme of camps in any year to gjbsidize fees for partlcular Indlviduals, and if
further funds are needed for that PLifp05e, to draw from Its general fund5 as necessary and avallable.
However, the funds in hand to the CIO have been drawn th)wn in recent years. to the point rhat the
Scope for Slwplementing re5tthcte(I bursary funds from gLy)eral funds Is now Ilmited.
From tlme to tlme, the CIO, and the TnLSt before It, has recetyed grants from other trusts and
indfvlduals to sUp￿rt Its athvfjtses. Ttre5e have usually been tfed to 9)me specific purw)se, such a5 the
replacement of equipment.
The trLStee5 have had regard to relevant aspects of the Charlty c(￿mISsk￿.$ quldarKe on publlc beneflt

The CIO'S actlvltles are funded mainly by camp fees ra15ed from campers and camp leader5. These fees
are held as low as Is conslstent CONPrtng costs from year to year and provlding for the gradual
replacement and Improvement of equipment Ito extent that that is not met by speclflc 8rant5 from
other trusts and Indlvlduals, and (k)natlons of equir¥nent from other camp5 whlth rK) longer have Ltse for
