Structure and Governance
The charity is governed by Memorandum and Articles adopted on 24 March 2009, as amended on 16 August 2018, and is constituted as a charitable company limited by guarantee, registered at Companies House under registration number 6856894.
The charity is the legal owner of its property and assets. The Trustees collectively are legally responsible for the day‐to‐day management and the financial assets of the charity and are accountable to the members.
Trustees are appointed by the members by means of an annual ballot.
All Trustees give their time voluntarily and, other than reimbursement of expenses, receive no remuneration or other benefits.
The Trustees have taken steps to ensure that they all understand the charity’s purpose (objects) and rules as set out in the Memorandum and Articles and are aware of their responsibilities to comply with Charity Commission guidance as set out in ‘The Essential Trustee: What you need to know, what you need to do (CC3)’ and have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.

Objects and Activities
The charity’s purpose (‘the objects’) are:
To advance the Christian faith in accordance with the Christadelphian statement of faith for the benefit of the public as the trustees from time to time determine.
The charity advances its objects by:
-
holding meetings for worship, prayer, bible study and the preaching of the Gospel.
-
providing religious teaching and publications to enlighten others about the Christadelphian faith.
-
promotion of charitable works including, but not limited to, easing hardship and the provision of pastoral care.
-
supporting charities, Christadelphian and others, e.g. Christadelphian Bible Mission Welfare, Christadelphian Meal a Day Fund, World Jewish Relief, all of which help people in need in various parts of the world.
-
holding open days when we invite our neighbours and passers‐by to get to know us and our beliefs.
-
renting a stall at the local annual carnival, holding regular Sunday Bible presentations which are advertised and holding special presentations at other venues when we can.
Financial Overview
We began the year with a balance of £32,664.
The level of income from collections remains sufficient to cover our own internal costs and to regularly donate money to various charities. This year we donated to an appeal made by World Jewish Relief to give humanitarian aid for Ukraine. We donated to an appeal from Burton Christadelphian Ecclesia to help them with urgent maintenance/repair to their meeting room. We donated to support the Christadelphian Birmingham Family Study Day, where families come together around the Bible, the Word of God.
We ended the year with an overall balance of £20,791.
The cash movements and balances are summarised in the Statement of Receipts and Payments and Statement of Assets and Liabilities below.
All funds are held in instant access bank accounts. The balance in these funds at the end of the year was considered sufficient to meet the ongoing expenses of the charity.
The trustees consider that the charity is in a healthy financial situation.

An Independent Examination of the accounts for the period was required as total annual income was above £25,000.
Public benefit
Our beliefs (as Christadelphians) are based upon an acceptance of the Bible as inspired by God, and are centred on the teachings of Jesus, his death and resurrection, and the promise of his eventual return. We seek to reflect, in a modern context, the beliefs and practice of first-century Christianity. We believe that our faith should influence and guide all aspects of life, and lead to care and concern for others both within and beyond our community.
The trustees consider that the charity benefits the public as it:
(i) gives meaning to the lives of church members and the general public and contributes to their spiritual well-being;
(ii) helps to develop the spirituality of church members and the general public and strengthen their relationship with God;
(iii) provides a moral or ethical framework for church members to live by, which offers benefits to church members and the general public, as well as individual comfort, solace and a sense of purpose;and
(iv) provides pastoral, financial and other welfare support to those in need.
Declaration
The Trustees declare that they have approved the Trustees' annual report above. Signed on behalf of the charity's Trustees

Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Acocks Green Christadelphian Ecclesia
I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 1 April 2023 which are set out on page 4 of the annual report.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to:
-
Examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the commission under section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act; and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention
Basis of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the next statement.
Independent examiner’s statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
-
(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act have not been met; or
-
(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
