## **Vanguard Restoration Foundation (VRF) Annual Report and Accounts 01 Mar 2023 – 28 Feb 2024** 

## **ANNUAL REPORT** 

This was a quiet year, dominated mainly by the ongoing negotiations with Burnham Wharf Heritage (BWH), ourselves and the Herring family about leasing and subleasing Vanguard Quay. It all seems that this is heading in the right direction and means that BWH will be able to use the quay for the next five years, depending on funding for Vanguard’s restoration. 

It was agreed at various Trustee meetings that we needed a recruitment drive, which was conducted by Nick Skeens and involved articles and appeals in various media and several public talks, but we have yet to find someone with the skills to write a lottery application. The hunt continues. 

Once again, the Foundation’s trustees thank the Smith family for their immensely generous hosting of Vanguard at Wick Farm in Burnham-on-Crouch, where it is currently under its winter covers but is open to the public for viewing. 

The accounts overleaf have been prepared by Trustee Nick Skeens, acting Treasurer and approved by the Trustees. The accounts are based entirely on the Foundation’s Barclays Bank Account, which is the Foundation’s sole bank account and where all VRF income and expenditure is recorded. 

At the time of writing, our current balance stands at £5363.04.
