OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
The Beyond Shame Beyond Stigma charity was formed to promote and protect the mental health of young people and their families by provision of financial assistance through grant giving, to provide advice and information and to act as an umbrella and resource body.
In early 2020 the charity registered 'Beyond' as the charity's new working name.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable activities
COVID-19 Outbreak
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in early 2020, various fund-raising events had to be cancelled and curtailed. New fund-raising events are planned for late 2021 and 2022. Fundraising events being planned include a Lands End to John O'Groats cycle ride, a Kilimanjaro climb and a football competition.
In early 2021 we held a Mental Health festivals day to combine with Inside Out Day, where we had at least 500 schools sign up and we recruited a volunteer army of qualified vetted mental health professionals to provide free virtual sessions on wellbeing and mental health.
As we were not able to hold fundraising events during the year, the Board of Trustees gave a series of talks to Businesses, Schools and Universities on Wellbeing and Mental Health. This resulted in many of the organisations making donations to the charity.
We have now appointed a young board to work along side the Trustees. All members of the young board all have their own personal experiences and are well placed to promote the charity enabling the charity to work with schools, universities and other organisations that fit into the aims of the charity.
Blue Smile
Blue Smile provides a whole school approach for Mental Wellbeing for training school staff. To assist them with the ability to offer a one to one counseling sessions to the children we donated £1,000.
Hector House
Hector House aims to prevent suicide through education and awareness and offer support. We contributed £800. to aid them with this support.
Anna Freud Centre
Anna Freud is a leading charity for children and families which has developed and delivered pioneering mental health care for over 60 years. During the year we gave them a grant of £5,000.
Teapot Trust
Is a mental health charity that provides support for children and families coping with chronic conditions by delivering art therapy. In order to aid this charity with all their hard work we donated £1,000.
