STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCEAND MANAGEMENT Sharnbrook Evangellcal Church was registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Registered Charity Number 1179954), by the Charity Commission on 17 September 2018. Preparations for this new body to take over from the old Sharnbrook Evangellcal Church charity (Registered number 1145375) were progressed during 201812019, and a planned fornial handover took place on 31st Marth 2019. A￿1vITIEs. The church organised many activities during the year in support of it5 objects. These included Sunday worship. midweek House Groups during the daytime and evenln& monthly Prayer Meetings and children and youth work. ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE Year i#Aprll 2023- 3151 March 2024 A summary of the maln achlevements Is set out below: We hold regular Sunday meetings in the Science Centre at Sharnbrook Academy. These meetings are recorded and later uploaded to YouTube. We rneet in peoplels homes for House Groups and Prayer meetings. Regular pastoral visiting by elders, deacons and church members continues, as does pastoral care through phone and video calls, and electronic messaging. We run a prograrnrne of events for young people aged 3 to 16+ which are open to all, overseen by our Youth and Children's worker, Samantha. This includes Sunday Sthool wrth different age groups from creche upwards. We serve the local Prirnary School, through taklng Chrlstmas and Easter RE lessons for each year group and run an after4chool club (Jc's Club) of garnes, craft, activities and Blble Teachlng every Monday for thlldren In years 1-4. Uncover Is a teenage group, helpSng young people to look at the Bible and discuss contemporary issues that they face, that Is held in the home of the pastor or a parent. Our actlvitles are open to all and operate under the church's Chlld Protectlon Policy. All those worklng with young people are required to have an appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service certlflcate and our volunteeTS receive approprfate safeguardlng tralnlng. Many In the church ensure that older people, espedally those Ilvlng on thelr own and those who are now unable to corne out of their homes to regular meeting5, receive regular visits, especially rf they are unwell or In hospital. Thls Indudes times of bereavement and taking communion to those who are house bound. The church also provided rnea15 for those in need at partlcular tlrnes throughout the year. Locallyj the church supports our local Bedford Foodbank. We also take part In the Sharnbrook Village ChTiStmas Fayre, offering Christian literature and invitations to all in the communityi whlle also ralslngfundsto supportThe Stables charity, through cake sales. Church members are also involved in their local communities in various voluntary capacities, including working wlth asylum seekers from the local hostel. a pregnancy crfsls centre and facllltatlng a weekly Man Cave in the village. More broadlyi the church supports charftles mlnlsterfng In eastem Europe, Afrtca and Asla. This 15 augmented by church members personally actlve In wlder minlstrles In the UK and beyond. Approximatety 10% of gift income (and tax reclaimed) is Oven annually to 5UPPOrt this work. In allocating thi5 money we seek to give long-term support to individuals or organisations with whom we have personal links as a church to make a tangible difference to those we support. Leadership The church is led by Elders & Deacons who are responsible for the spiritual oversight and overall direction of church lrfe. Our Pastor. Public Benefit The trustees have paid due regard to the Charlty Commission's guldance on public benefit In deciding what activitie5 Shambrook Evangelical Church should undertake. In fuEfi'lling our charltable aims for the public benefit, we have undertaken the following actTVities: To advance the Christian Faith: Our regLrlar Sunday Servfces, mldweek House Groups and Monthly Prayer Meetings are open to all members of the publlc regardless of background and belief. These have been more wldely accessed by those in the local communlty and further afield over the past year. Special Services such as our annual Rernembrance Sunday and Christmas Carol Services confjnue. The elders of the church are available to give counsel and support to any in need and, along with other volunteers are involved regularly In prov5dlng support to the vulnerable, sick and bereaved. FINANCIAL REVIEW The charity received income for the year of £60,855 (2023: £64.881), all of whlch was unrestrfcted. Expenditure for the year was £64.608 (2023: £69,344). The receipts and payments account for the year Showed a deficit of £3,754 (2023: deficit of £4A63). Total net assets of the charlty amounted to £24,878 (2023: £29,341) which was all held as cash or bank balances. RESERVES The Trustees consider that the level of reserves is appropriate. At the year end, the free reserves of the charity amounted to £21,217 (2023: £24.878). All funds of the charfty are unrestricted in nature. The charity has no designated or restricted funds.
