## **Objectives and activities** 

Summary of the objects of the charity set In summary, the objects of the Corpus Vitrearum (Great Britain) are to advance the education of the public out in its governing document in, and to increase the accessibility and understanding of, Great Britain’s stained glass heritage by promoting the recording, study and preservation of historic window glass, and by publishing for the public benefit the useful results of this research. Summary of the main activities The trustees have considered the Commission’s guidance on public benefit in deciding the activities the undertaken for the public benefit in relation Corpus Vitrearum (Great Britain) undertakes. The main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to the charity’s objects are three-fold: first, the production of published, fully-illustrated volumes on to these objects (include within this section key aspects of Britain’s historic stained glass by leading authorities in the field; second, the maintenance and the statutory declaration that trustees have development of a dedicated, freely-accessed website (www.cvma.ac.uk) hosting an extensive digital had regard to the guidance issued by the picture archive, conservation and restoration information, as well as a wide variety of other resources, including on-theses on Britain’s stained glass heritage; and third, the production of ‘Vidimus’, a digital Charity Commission on public benefit) magazine presenting stained glass-related features, publications, events and news, featuring contributions from a wealth of scholars, conservationists and other glass experts from both within Britain and the international arena. **Section D Achievements and performance** Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year _Trustees and National Committee_ The Trustees and members of the Corpus Vitrearum (Great Brtiain) continue to share their research through publication, conference participation and the provision of online resources. Since our last report the Trustees have met twice. Charity trustee Professor Richard Marks stood down from the board in October 2024; the board records its thanks to him for his loyal service. We are delighted to report the appointment of Dr Anya Heilpern in his stead. Professor Marks continues as an active member of the wider project. Dr Lydia Fisher has also joined the committee. _Publication_ Our publication programme continues to progress. A very healthy number of volumes, covering both counties and individual monuments, are in preparation. Professor Mark’s volume _Windows and Wills_ is now (at time of submission of this report in October 2025) in press, with the generous financial support of the Paul Mellon Foundation and the Lincolnshire Records Society. Work on the preparation of the first two volumes in the six-volume series on the medieval glass of Norfolk will soon commence, and is supported by significant grants from the Norfolk Freemen and the Norfolk and Norwich Archaeological Society. Brian Sprakes’s study of the medieval glass of West Yorkshire, published in 2023, has been awarded the HBA Book Award for Exemplary Scholarship in the Period before 1600. _International Colloquium 2024_ In July 2024 the British Corpus Vitrearum was well represented at the biennial colloquium and forum of the International Corpus Vitrearum, meeting in Erfurt in Germany. Trustee David King presented a paper and the British committee successfully nominated two young scholars to be recipients of conference scholarships. _Website, Archive and Newsletter_ The transfer of the picture archive  and web-based resources of the Corpus Vitrearum (Great Britian) to the Archaeology Data Service (ADS) has (at time of submission of this report) finally been achieved and can be consulted at: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/archives/collections/ view/1006150/ The project’s freely accessible online newsletter _Vidimus_ has been relaunched with a refreshed appearance and more robust digital platform. The Trustees are grateful to individual donors, its academic sponsor, The British Academy, and the Worshipful Company of Glaziers for their continued support.

Section E Financial review<br>Brief statement of the  The very limited funds available to the Corpus Vitrearum (Great Britain) to spend freely on its activities<br>charity’s policy on reserves (currently totally an income of around £5,000 per annum) mean that it is not reasonable or practical to set<br>money aside as a reserve. The charity’s major and most expensive activities, namely the production of its<br>print volumes and its on-line magazine, are funded primarily through the securing of grants specifically for<br>these purposes and the funds are ring-fenced for these purposes only. The limited general funds are deployed<br>to support these activities at the heart of the charity (for example, to cover authors’ basic travel expenses)<br>and to maintain the charity’s website. There are habitually more potential demands on the charity’s funds in<br>supporting these central activities than there are funds available.
